Guest conoley
I just finished. It's one of the saddest, most terrifying and well-written books I've ever read.

skanknsmile
It's a fantastic book. So sad, but brilliant none the less. I keep on getting scared/excited that I'm going to see a trailer for this every time I go to the movies.
dante3000
What's the plot? And where can I get said book? I'd prefer to rent it (like a Blockbuster) and return it, as I don't buy many books. A book loan place if you will.

slymer
Read it, loved it. I plan on reading All The Pretty Horses next.
dante3000
Read it, loved it. I plan on reading All The Pretty Horses next. True advice my dad gave me, "I don't care how good the movie is, you can't say 'I want to see All the Pretty Horses' and not sound gay". Bless that man
AsleepOnRocks
I recommend this highly as well. It is a very, very quick read. Partially because there aren't any chapters or anything to break it up. But as has already been said, it's beautiful/sad/terrifying and pretty much anything else a book can be.

Good point, but written by the same man that gave us "The Road" and "No Country For Old Men".
benchwarmer
lots of great dante quotes in this thread. just moved, have to get a library card at the one down the street. I'll put this on the list.
akross
I read this in one sitting last fall. I need to read it again. I don't really know if I'd like it as a movie, but who knows...
samlesous
I think this book is amazing and probably one of the best books I have ever read. The movie however will suck shit, as natural with adaptations, starring Viggo Mortenson, who is fucking wrong for this role, and Charlese Theron, whose is wrong in anything, as the mother. kirbypuckett
Wow, just finished. Awesome book. I couldn't stop reading it. I decided to read it because Entertainment Weekly ranked it was the best book over the past 25 years.
kirbypuckett
Oh, I just read parts of the movie were filmed in Pittsburgh! Woot!

Viggo doesn't sound like a bad choice. The mother is pretty much irrevelent to the story isn't she? I don't mind Theron, but they really didn't have to cast some smokin hot babe in the role. I think he's a fine actor and will probably kill it, but I just can't see him as that guy. I actually see someone more like guy pierce, who is in the movie. If anyone on here who has read this is a father, how did you feel about it?
akross
http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/08/07/first-look-the-road/ More information and some photos, I can't wait to see how this turns out. It looks like they have done a good job capturing the "burnt America" environment...
