mynameistom
I desperately want to see the uk band million dead's (check them out they were fucking amazing) records pressed and was just wondering how much it would take to get it done (bootleg or legit). Seeing as there's pretty much no chance of their old label ever pressing it I thought i'd enquire myself.....
mark
That would be simply fantastic, I'll have a copy!
sgoodcore
how long is the record (i.e. does it need to be a double or can it just be an LP?)
mynameistom
hold your horses there! this is just a VERY EARLY enquiry. just testing the water.
mynameistom
how long is the record (i.e. does it need to be a double or can it just be an LP?) i'm pretty sure it would fit a single lp. i'll check that out............. edit: its just under 45 minutes. riddle350
at least 1500 to make it nice package(nothing crazy just middle of the road). I would also buy any varient plus a test press. Seriously.

riddle350
A Song To Ruin or Harmony No Harmony first?
sgoodcore
I'm unaware of the pricing in the UK to be honest. You might be able to get a good deal since you have a strong UK pound. I wouldn't think it would cost less than 3000 but that's the price you would pay in the US with dollars. No idea how that translates in the UK with your strong currency. That 3000 price was what I was getting as an estimate when I thought the End of the Ring Wars was a single LP. So that's on 1000 pieces of colored vinyl with jackets. riddle350
since that bands broken up you may want to only do a run of
mynameistom
1500 pounds or dollars? a song to ruin would be first and i was onyl thinking of a run of 500 and no crazy packaging, just the regular art on a simple jacket. I'm not over bothered about coloured wax either if black would be cheaper. Also, would i have to deal with the label to sort the rights and fork out £££ to them because i assumed that would be part of the deal. Like I said 1000 with jackets in shrink on color was about 3200 if I remember correctly. That's in dollars.

Yeah you'd have to talk to Xtra Mile(if they own the rights). One thing to think of is that color vinyl sells better than black.
mynameistom
cool, that works out about £750 for 500 records. not bad! any idea how much aquiring a license would typically cost? (sorry to keep asking questions but i figured here would be the place to ask based on the people that frequent here regularly!)
sgoodcore
Varies so wildly any guess would simply be based on experience with other labels. You're probably just going to have to ask. I bet you could work out something where you let them sell some.
fordocumentationon
Great band, but I like Frank Turner's solo stuff more.
mynameistom
maybe you should investigate putting it out then!!
AlexH.
There definitely needs to be a "how to press a record" sticky on this board. I know there is a pretty comprehensive thread on Dead Format if you want to look there.

mark
Great band, but I like Frank Turner's solo stuff more. Both good, I'd love to see either of Million Dead's or either of Frank's solo albums on vinyl. Speaking of which my FT/Fighting With Wire split arrived today
