byfallingbomb
The stereo receiver I used took a shit, so I figured I should just buy a preamp for my turntable. What kind do use? Providing a link, if you can, would be necessary in this thread.
mcnail
Depending on how much you want to spend, I've heard good things about this one: http://www.needledoctor.com/Bellari-VP130-Tube-Phono-Preamp?sc=2&category=401 Also, I think there's a battery operated preamp that someone put out recently that you construct yourself that supposedly sounds really great. byfallingbomb
I'm not too sure how much I should spend on one. Are there any below $100 that are decent? I've always hooked my turntable up to a stereo receiver, so I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to preamps and their different features. martyk36
I wouldn't spend $100 on one, this website http://www.phonopreamps.com/ has some great preamps for pretty cheap. I don't actually have one yet but i'm probably gonna get the $54 model after I move.
numanoid
If you have more to spend, like maybe around tax return time, I would recommend the Pro-Ject Tube Box. http://www.needledoctor.com/Pro-Ject-Tube-Box-II?sc=7&category=947 I've got one, and I like it a lot. But it's more than $100...
byfallingbomb
either I might order one from phonopreamps.com, or head down to guitar center and see if they have any. bump
voodooramen
This thread reminds me I should put some money aside and put together my own tube preamp. TS, if you know how to solder I think for a budget of lets say $100 that would be the way to go, most bang for your buck, plus you get to have fun building something. Can't provide links to anything, but they are out there.
