New Vinyl - Big Drill Car, Stupids, Southport etc.

Recommended Posts

Hello folks!

A few people have been telling me to post about our releases on VC for a while now so i finally got round to it!

Boss Tuneage is a UK independent DIY label that has been going for 19 years and in that time we've done around 400 releases (I lost count)

We have some great new vinyl releases out and I figured that since we haven't had any real kind of distro in the USA for a couple of years now that probably a lot of folks over there don't even know about us! ;D

So, new releases on vinyl available now by direct mailorder from Boss Tuneage ( www.bosstuneage.com ) - (we also have an Ebay store www.stores.ebay.co.uk/bosstuneage but please note prices on that are slightly dearer than coming to us direct to cover Ebay's fees/deductions)

BIG DRILL CAR - A NEVER ENDING ENDEAVOUR Double LP

First pressing strictly limited to 301 copies - disc 1 clear/orange splatter, disc 2 - clear/blue splatter, 24" x 12" full colour foldout lyric sheet, 350g heavy duty widespine sleeve, shrinkwrapped

The Orange County legends are back! Features 5 brand new tracks recorded this year plus 15 rare / hard to find tracks from 1991 - 1994 taken from singles, comps and demos! A must for any BDC fan!

CD version also available in the states on the bands own Varient label (CD version also available on Boss T for rest of the world)

Move fast - they are not in stores officially until Sept 7th, and we don't have many left!

SOUTHPORT - ARMCHAIR SUPPORTERS LP

First pressing, 320 copies , white/blue splodged vinyl, 300g double white board sleeve, shrinkwrapped

The long awaited follow up to the debut "Nothing Is Easy" album, SOUTHPORT in 2009 are somewhat of a UK punk supergroup, featuring SIMON WELLS (SNUFF) on Guitar / vocals, LLOYD CHAMBERS (BLOCKO) on Bass and DEC KELLY (MIDWAY STILL) on Drums - currently on tour in japan as i write this...

STUPIDS - THE KIDS DON'T LIKE IT LP

First pressing, 525 copies, clear with red & black splatter vinyl, full colour inner sleeve, 300g double white board printed outer sleeve, shrinkwrapped

the UK hardcore legends are back! STUPIDS were the first band in the UK to openly be influenced by US hardcore and their albums released between 1984 and 1987 spawned and influenced a whole generation - without STUPIDS, there would not have been SNUFF, LEATHERFACE etc - they were the pioneers!

Now, 21 years on, they are back with a brand new album and its like the last 2 decades never happened - featuring original members Tommy Stupid and Marty Tuff alongside new boy Rossi O'Schmitt on bass, this isn't a tired old rehash living on former glories - this is the most complete STUPIDS record ever!

Aston is awesome, Boss Tunage is a great label.

...and I suck because all the xone wayx records I was supposed to send to him are still sitting in my house boxed up....which I need to un-box and either fit them in 2 flat rate boxes to spend the $90 it would cost to mail the box as is...

good label. need to place another order. any word on new varsity drag stuff?

Ben's actually mixing the new album this weekend - we're gonna have it out ready for teh UK tour first week of October - at present think it will only be CD version to begin with.. we also put out a live cd at midprice bac in July called "RocknRoll Is Such A HAssle" which is from the last European tour, half of the first varsity Drag album alongside lots of Ben's LEMONHEADS classics !

Hey Aston, good to see you here.

You should press Nothing Is Easy on Vinyl too. Surely Golf has no use for it anymore (Are they even a label anymore?).

Hey Tim! I was speaking to Simon about re-issuing it with extra tracks as he got the rights back from Go Kart (who licensed it to Golf back in the day) but he was trying to find some other unreleased stuff from back then to go with it...

Golf still exists to my knowledge but nowhere near on the scale it was a few years back...

A lot of the UK labels have slowed down considerably very much into dormant or hobby labels - its only me still releasing records like a man possessed ::)

OH! on a similar note, i would freaking love for 'tundra rock' by pocket genius to get to vinyl somehow. not sure how possible that is but, shit. that would rule.

edit: add their EP to that list as well.

Looks like it's time for you to step up to the plate and start a label. You can start w/ Away Awhile...

i've had a pretty weak hobby label in the past, but i have considered starting up something that was a lot more official. maybe not something i can pay the bills with, but something that i can put a lot more time and effort into. if i do, then i will definitely be in contact.

Just say the word.

there's loads of old boss T stuff i'd love to put out on vinyl but itrs a real hard slog for us to sell vinyl - the main place we sell to is Japan still, and Japan kids love CD still over vinyl - we usually sell 6-8 times as many on Cd as we can on vinyl over there...

  • 2 weeks later...

Aston - BDC came today, and I don't know how you did it, but it managed to get all the way across the Atlantic, into the hands of the Philadelphia USPS and to my door, unharmed in that paper mailer!! And holy shit, are those some beautiful slabs of wax! I usually shy away from splatter vinyl, but the clear w/ blue and orange really come together nicely with the art - more so in person. I can't wait to play these once my gear is set-up!

Thanks for putting this out on vinyl! Thanks heaps!
