robotnerd
jagermeister is all about sponsoring metal and metal-esque bands these days. they probably sponsor like 100 bands. case in point... their USA based website is jagermusic.com
Guest conoley
julie doiron is awesome. Her new album is wonderful. It's so short and pop-perfect. Beautiful sounds.
skumbucket
is that where you're leaning? or have you decided? or is there like a non-disclosure contract or something?
scottheisel
what were we talking about?oh yeah, polaris. That was name of the semi-fictional band who recorded all the music for The Adventures Of Pete & Pete. True story.
skumbucket
i don't know what that is. pete & pete, i mean.
skumbucket
also, how can you be semi-fictional? would spinal tap be the benchmark for semi-fictionality?
scottheisel
i don't know what that is. pete & pete, i mean. How sad. How very, very sad: http://pnp.norecess.org/ And the reason I referred to the band as semi-fictional is that they were created for the show and never played any gigs, but are actually real people who recorded real songs to be used in the show. scottheisel
and we don't have nickelodeon... You missed out on what was seriously one of the most creative "kids" shows of the '90s. Watch a full episode here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf5sBLkFJ20 Seasons 1 and 2 came out on DVD but then Nickelodeon put the halt on the 3rd and final season, so no one knows if/when it will ever come out. cadetapplesauce
i would've never known. was that iggy pop on that show?? i remember the episode with the "perfect" dude, or whoever it was whoever did things "perfectly" and they got him when he ate the ribs (with a fucking fork and knife!!). scottheisel
i would've never known. was that iggy pop on that show?? Iggy Pop was indeed on that show. He was Nona Mecklenberg's dad. Michael Stipe from R.E.M. made a guest appearance in one episode as an ice cream salesman, and Luscious Jackson actually performed in another. Most episodes had background music from the Magnetic Fields, too. I'm pretty sure Pete & Pete got me into indie rock without me even knowing it.
