danthemjfan23
hey dudes, sorry i've been super busy this past week and haven't had a whole bunch of time to get the ball rolling with this... the idea started when i was learning a Smoking Popes song a couple weeks ago and jokingly said to thedavidescapeplan "we should do a split 7-inch that never gets released." and he suggested we each do covers of smoking popes songs. eventually it progressed into "let's do covers of bands from chicago," although i'm not sure anymore who suggested that. not really important, though. also around that time i saw the video of alkaline trio covering web in front by archers of loaf on the AV Club. the AV Club, for those who don't know) is doing this project where they have a list of 25 songs by 25 different bands. then they have bands/artists come in and select a song from the list to cover and record. once a song has been covered, nobody can pick it again. i really liked that concept and kind of morphed that with david's and my idea into this little project: why don't we (we = VC) do a Cross-Country Tour of bands. go city to city, and have people pick any song they want from a band from the current city we're working on. it can be an acoustic cover, it can be a piano cover, it can be a full-band cover... however you want to do it, just get creative with it. i'll be starting a new thread with the first city (i'd like to do chicago first) with all the details and we'll go from there. thanks to everybody in this thread who helped out. now let's have some fun!
