thebiglebowski
My work bought me a new laptop to run some optimization problems in Matlab. It has 4 cpus in it. The codes take a really long time to run (~6 hours), but are only using ~30% of the processor capability. Is there an easy way to increase processor utilization (without writing custom programs)? I know a decent amount about computers/programming, but am no computer scientist. I tried a google search, but didn't find anything good. I'm basically hoping there is some kind of freeware or something out there that acts as a job manager and increases processor utilization, but is user friendly and doesn't require a master's in computer science to use it. Any help/references/advice would be greatly appreciated.
ihprstl
It may be maxing out the ram. How much is in there? What OS are you running? What model is the laptop?
Guest eriathomas
You can assign the process a higher priority, though I'm not sure how much of a boost that'd be.

RAM is fine. 4 Gigs available, using ~1.5 Gigs. Windows 7. Lenovo T410s. The processor is an intel core i5.
rtw88
Yeah, like Thomas said you can go into task manager and set priority in Processes, but I have no idea how much it increases speed.
