almightyseancore Posted June 9, 2011 Share Posted June 9, 2011 clearly, this is just an opinion. i saw them open for bright eyes recently and the new material sounded so energetic and fun, and they really put their all into it, but this new album is a damn snoozefest. what gives? almightyseancore Posted June 9, 2011 Author Share Posted June 9, 2011 nah, dawes is an alt. country band that i have never really cared for until seeing them live. i thought the set changed my mind, but their recordings are so lackluster in comparison, i don't think i could ever enjoy this band without them being on a stage in front of me. almightyseancore Posted June 9, 2011 Author Share Posted June 9, 2011 they must've become tighter in the last 3 years. their frontmans guitar skills were very impressive, and the band was super super tight. singer really seems to channel springstein at times, and his voice gets really raspy and energetic, building into yelling and passionate radness that just doesn't happen on the album at all. kinda shit that makes a song great because you know they mean it, but on the record they just kinda "meh" their way though everything. very disappointing.
