Transporting my records...

Recommended Posts

Use sturdy cardboard boxes. I wouldn't use old, beat-up boxes - buy new if you can afford it. And, most importantly, fill the box so the records are somewhat tight and aren't flopping back and forth. But equally critical to all of this is to keep the box small enough so the weight is manageable - if the boxes are too heavy, you won't be able to move them with the utmost care, they'll get dropped and/or banged up. If I remember correctly, a box about 12" x 12" x 15" should work.

I use double panel 12.5"w X 12.25"h X 12.5"d boxes. These boxes are awesome because not only are they made for LPs, they have a cardboard wall with a top flap in the middle to turn one big box into two connected smaller braced boxes.

Your local record store will probably give you empty boxes from shipments. If your store orders through Super D, they might have some of the good boxes I use laying around, too.
