maintreqd
picked up this LP used at a shop and the intro of Big Casino (track 1) is clipped. love the album so much I decided it was worth it to buy it again new only to find my new copy has the same issue. my friend said sometimes labels do this to fit everything on one LP but it just seems so shitty. anyone else get this back when it came out (or more recently) and feel the same? are there many instances of this happening or was this more likely just a fluke that's never been fixed? chiefwahoo
I'm pretty sure I whined about it on here when it came out. Drives me crazy. People generally don't seem to care, though. And I highly doubt this is ever intentionally done, we're talking about a second's worth of music or less.

brandnew
The intro to +44's when your heart stops beating does the same thing, I believe. Just starts mid-guitar riff. I think the album has a great intro, and obviously you're going to be paying the most attention to the beginning because you've just put the record on, so it's impossible not to notice, and every time it just starts the record off with a minor disappointment. I have chase, too, and I didn't notice anything, last I recall...I'll have to check it out--I'm not a super fan of this album, so I easily could have just not noticed or thought I set the needle wrong or something. maintreqd
the intro to Chase This Light is the single from the record, the song big casino, which has an 8-bar intro riff of just 16th notes on a single guitar octave and jim says softly "let's go" just before the band kicks in. so basically it's an iconic intro and to me it's blatant that it's clipped at the beginning because "let's go" comes way too early and out of time with the guitar. If you're not a musician or anything you may not hear it, but i'd imagine something would still feel "off" about it. If anyone is sure they have a copy that doesn't do this, and you're not in love with it, i would definitely consider a trade or purchase from you. stupid shit like this bums me out hard and jimmy is one of my favs.
