timpopkid
10/23/12 Update: In an ideal world, this post would actually be touting the release of a new piece of PopKid vinyl. For the time being this single won't be pressed on vinyl, but we've kept these songs a secret from the world for far too long. This was meant to be a 7" that was going to be released around 1997-1998, though even by then this amazing band had called it a day. Keepsake was based out of New Jersey, was only around for a brief moment, but managed to crank out 3 truly incredible songs. Longing for the days when guitar bands were more like Mega City Four, Senseless Things or the Doughboys? This single is for you. For the time being, you can go to our Bandcamp page and download MP3s, FLAC files or whatever format you like of this record. It's $2. If there is an overwhelming demand or if we sell hundreds of these downloads, we will absolutely look into a proper vinyl pressing at some point. But for now, we just want to share some songs that we love with the rest of the pop kids out there. Thanks & Enjoy! http://popkid.bandca...ke-undertow-7-2 ---------------------------------------------------------- 07/16/12 Update: Hi there. After a really, really long time, Alan and I have reassembled PopKid Records' online presence. We now finally have a website again, with a complete Discography and a news section that we hope to be able to fill with news. Go to www.popkid.com We've dug out all of the records we have left in the archive and have put them up for sale. We were pretty shocked to find out what we still had copies of. We found copies of the Stereo/Ultimate Fakebook 7" (On White & Black Vinyl) and we even found a whole box of Jettison CDs (2/3s of Porcelain Boys and very much in the same vein). We also have copies of just about every other release so you can get there through the main website or directly by going to popkidrecords.bigcartel.com. Finally, we've taken a page from the kids and have put all of our releases up on a Bandcamp page so you can finally buy MP3s of all of our records & 7"s. The only one ypou cannot buy is the Porcelain Boys CD as we've licensed that record to SP Records in Japan, but you can still listen to it on the Bandcamp page (oh and we actually found 3 copies of the original CD if you go to the rarites section of the store you can grab one). Check out popkid.bandcamp.com and buy some digital things please. All of this is to help the label get going again. We have a Chester Copperpot EP that has been ready for release for quite some time, so we want to finally get that out and there are some young new whippersnappers out there that we'd really like to do a 7" with, so if we can raise enough money selling some of our old records, hopefully we can put out some more new records. Thanks for reading, and tell your friends. timpopkid
After our first week, we sold way more than we expected, so thank you to all that have ordered. We only have 1 more Starmarket CD left, so grab it if you want it. Anyone that ordered this past week, your records shipped on Saturday. We're talking about putting up some of the unreleased PopKid stuff that never came out up on Bandcamp. Not sure how folks feel about that, but everything we're doing is to raise the money to put out a new Chester Copperpot EP! Thanks again for everyone's support! timpopkid
OK, so things are moving right along here in PopKid land. We finally got out the original DAT for the Ultimate Fakebook / The Stereo split 7" and have made new fancy digital versions that we've put up on Bandcamp. $2 for 4 songs. Neat. http://popkid.bandcamp.com Still have a bunch of the actual 7"s for sale as well if you'd prefer something to touch. We've got a few catalog numbers that have always been held for records that never came out. We're going to fix that. The Keepsake, 7", Horace Goes Skiing / Porcelain Boys split 7", A playground EP and a Playground LP are all going to come out on Bandcamp. We'd love to press vinyl for all of these, but for now we'll put them out digitally, if the demand is high (we know it won't be) and we actually sell some of these files, then maybe we'll be able to press some of this stuff at some point. We'll see. Right now, all money raised is going to press a Chester Copperpot EP called Courage Mountain. That may end up being released digitally at first as well, but we'll see how much money we can raise with everything else. And again, actual records for sale too. We only have 1 more copy of the Starmarket CD and 1 more copy of the Porcelain Boys CD, so if you want either, better jump on that.http://popkidrecords.bigcartel.com Thanks! timpopkid
08/20/12 Update: We've got some Chester Copperpot T-Shirts for sale now: These shirts were printed up in 2004 for the release of The Kings of Kirby CD. They were up for sale briefly on an old version of our website, but I think the only people that actually have the shirt are in the band plus us PopKids. We have less than 10 of each size (Small, Medium & Large) for sale and you can buy them in 2 ways: http://popkidrecords.bigcartel.com - You can pick up the shirt for $10 plus shipping. You can also pick up everything that PopKid still has copies of here, records, CDs & some other stuff. http://popkid.bandcamp.com/album/chester-copperpot-the-kings-of-kirby - for $12 you can buy the shirt bundled with a download of the Chester Copperpot full length - The Kings of Kirby. For us we're pretty much giving you the MP3s, the extra 2 dollars is to cover the fees we'll get hit with from Bandcamp. Pick up a shirt, pick up some records. We're getting closer to having raised enough money to put out a new Chester Copperpot record. We'll also be having some cool new items for download over the next few weeks. We're just putting together some artwork for records that were recorded, but never released. Thanks!
