midnightcity
Let's recap the month Russian punk-rock band Pussy Riot has had: Earlier this month, three members where sentenced to two years in a penal colony for hooliganism. Last week, Russian Police announced that a "man"-hunt was on for the band's remaining members. A day later, two Riotettes fled Russia to avoid persecution while also recruiting new members to their cause. And yesterday, the phrase "Free Pussy Riot" was was found - at a murder scene. So, like, the worst. month. ever. The Guardian is reporting that the bodies of two russian women, 78 and 32-years-old respectively, have been in the city of Kazan. Particularly troubling was the message of "Free Pussy Riot" scrawled in blood on the wall above them. While the band is not being sought in connection with the murders, Pro-Kremlin protestors have jumped on the incident as further proof of the group's disruptive nature. A lawyer for the band was quick to denounce the murders as "horrible," adding "Pussy Riot was always for nonviolent protest. This incident is either a horrendous provocation or [the work of] a psychopath." The ballad of Pussy Riot continues. gabpower
This is crazy shit indeed but for some people to say Pussy Riot is somewhat responsible for it is like saying the Beatles are somewhat responsible for Charles Manson's murders. Doesn't make sense but some people do not have much sense either.
midnightcity
Yeah, suffice it to say, I never want to go to Russia. Ever. I feel like farting over there would put me in a penal colony for 2 years.
