bamaaudio
I'm still a bit nostalgic to the format and probably have had a thousand of them or more over the years. Still play them occasionally on an older projector that has a pretty good built in deinterlacer. The default PCM audio tracks handidly beat the DD 2.0 on a dvd, while the pic quality is usually step down on modern digital tvs and pjs.I have a bunch of laserdiscs that I'm selling if anyone still collects 'em. Shoot me a PM for list.
turnstiles
I agree with the Star Wars thing. That's the best format to watch the original cut on.
Man Suits
We get these in every once in awhile where I work. We have pretty decent pricing on most of them. I've always been pretty interested in the format myself.
nick6ten
I had Pauly Shore sign a LD Jury Duty for me once... I thought it was hilarious... he didn't find it so funny. turbobrando
circuit bored records
If I wasn't aware of how technologically obsolete this format is, I might consider getting into it
turbobrando
I find people who buy these is purley for nostalgia. There are places here that sell LDs (some are priced well, some are not). If I were to find one that I wanted for under $1, then I would more than likely get it, but anything over that amount you're overpaying for
idreamofpunk
Depends on how much you like the movie, i guess. Star Wars Trilogy, man. Star Wars Trilogy. Pre-Special Edition bullshit. Heavenly. turnstiles
circuit bored records
Eh the original cuts of episodes IV-VI still exist on VHS. The VCR in my house has better upconvert to HD than any laserdisc player in existence. I guess I can understand the nostalgia factor, but it's just obsolete in every way. turbobrando
I remember when Target sold the original Star Wars Triology in a 6 disc set, one of the original cut, one with the special edition, for like $40? So glad I picked that up
idreamofpunk
Yeah, I sold that when the blurays came out, not realizing that that was a stupid, stupid move. Also the aspect ratio of the original cuts were kind of screwy on my TV. Couldn't figure out how to fix it. =/
tussin
While the once top of the line technology is now obsolete, there are some cool titles that have never been released on dvd, therefore making the laserdisc the best quality digital release. The Cure in Orange, The Golden Age of Looney Tunes (that has several cartoons that Warner Bros. tries to forget existed. For example 'Bugs Bunny nips the nips'. openupyourskull
I'm always on the lookout for these, but I can never seem to find them anywhere. There are some neat music ones I'd love to find someday, such as The Cure In Orange as mentioned before.
