Seattle, WA's BIG EYES will release their sophomore record, Almost Famous, on Grave Mistake Records on May 14, 2013 on both LP and CD; the CD version will include the two songs from their 2012 7" single "Back From the Moon" on Grave Mistake.  The LP will also see a European release on Taken By Surprise Records.  Featuring 11 brand-new tracks of their signature catchy, poppy, yet heavy brand of rock and roll, Pitchfork has today premiered the first track from the new record, "Being Unkind".  It can be heard alongside the title track from Back From The Moon at:

Originally formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2009, Big Eyes moved to Seattle in 2011 where they solidified their line-up and became the stripped down 3-piece they are today.  Their first full-length, Hard Life, was released on Don Giovanni Records (Screaming Females, Waxahatchee) in 2011 which coincided not only with the band's cross-country move but also with the start of their full-time touring.  In summer 2012, Big Eyes joined forces with party-punks Mean Jeans for a West Coast tour which spawned the idea for a split 7" released in December 2012 on Dirtnap Records (Marked Men, Exploding Hearts).  Never ones to sit still, the band was back on the road by November for a 6-week tour with Audacity (Burger/Recess Records) complete with a split 7" featuring the two bands that was released by Volar Records.

The new year brings a spate of new tour dates for the band in support of Almost Famous which kick off with an April West Coast tour with Deranged Record's Criminal Code (all tour dates below).  The new LP sees Big Eyes growing in new directions - though their hard-knock New York roots are still clearly planted, the darkness of the Pacific Northwest has obviously left it's mark.
