  1. this was posted by:morfiend really useful for the updated US prices

Yeah, these rates are brutal. I've already updated my shop with the changes, the bigger problem is updating every ebay listing manually. Here is a shipping calcuator that's been a great tool for me -

    -----

posted this over on B9/DF figured I'd post it here also since it could be of use for a few people.

    -

not sure if this might help anyone who has the misfortunes of needing to adjust their shipping rates manually, but went ahead and parsed through some of the old prices and new prices to show the new rates -- might help others out there a little who set up prices by type of item instead of weight.

I tried to do most of the areas/weights I could think of that would be relevant for us.

any price listed will be in the format of: new price (+increase from old price) so if the old rate for a 1lb package was $5 to ship and the new rate is $5.30 it would say 5.30 (+.30) 1 lb package

it is a damn shame limitedrun doesn't have a shipping module for shipping by weight. I'd rather deal with adjusting that than the way its setup now (the only thing I hate about it)--if you run a store there drop the developers a line to incorporate it!

anyway hope this might help some people

  2. "seems like"?!? I've seen a lot of crazy things on this forum (bible ashes in records, blood filled records, brewery bus tours, etc.), but I feel like this takes the cake. like, seriously, how many of these do they need to sell to break even?

my sarcasm didn't translate very well I don't think haha

but yeah ... that is absolutely ridiculous. even if they limited it strictly to 1000 pieces for each record total thats still a fuckload more than I would think reasonable. wish it was an LP box set for $100 or less I'd be on it in a heartbeat

  3. 178,000 more rancid singles

    230,000*

so looks like they are 1000 of each black vinyl individual record also:

    color vinyl:

    2000 x46 (92,000) boxsets

    2000 x46 (92,000) album packs

    black vinyl:

    1000 x46 (46,000) individual records

    total: (230,000)

that seems like .......overkill. I wouldn't mind having 3 of the album packs but fuck them being on 45s

230,000 units of VINYL. Biggest project we've ever been a part of. Pretty badass. Especially badass because it's for Rancid and Pirates Press Records. HONORED, EXCITED and BUSY, BUSY, BUSY... words that don't even sum up what we're feeling right now! #musthave #vinyl #rancid #piratespress #piratespressrecords #hardwork
  4. my care level for signed records is at about zero, though my copy of codeseven - the rescue came signed.

came to post this actually haha, I don't really care for getting any records signed, definitely wouldn't pay more for any to do so. got into punk/hardcore growing up alongside those guys, the first 100 copies or so of the LP were signed, thought it was funny/cheesy I got one of those, but they hold a special place in my heart for local nostalgia - so still cool regardless. I think that is the only signed record I own (that I'm aware of)

the only other thing I've got signed outside of when I was around 15 (mighty mighty bosstones ticket stub from bosstones/H20 comes to mind haha) was a copy of the Melvins - with yo' heart 7" for my best friend from high school. had originally picked it up for him, and then years went by and we never crossed paths at a time I actually remembered to bring it. so we were both meeting up at a fantomas show - brought it for him there but his car broken down and he didn't make it. ended up getting buzz to sign it for him and then later gave it to him and his wife as a wedding gift. bet it was the only wedding gift they received that had the words "anal satan" on it. looked really nice in a gold paint pen on the yellow covers

  5. just finished scoring, cutting them all out and numbering them last night to bring them down to the fest tomorrow!

left = record release right = pre-order both are #/50 and on clear vinyl

headfirst! has roughly 10 copies of the pre-order covers left, bitter melody has 2 or 3 left. I imagine any that aren't claimed by tonight will be sold at the fest this weekend so if you want one of the covers on the right, time is running out! (clear are available in the 2 or 3 record bundles)

  6. We reorganized the bundles a bit and some clears are available in other options. Check out our stores if you've been holding out.

Also congratulations are in order since Discourse just signed to Mayfly to do a new 7" in early 2013.

These should be on the way to me tomorrow and on to you soon after.

can grab the clear in either the two or three record bundles now, help us get rid of the last few before the vinyl gets here!!

  7. I don't mind the cassette format, but if it's a release that is already available on vinyl or cd it seems pointless.

some people like the aesthetics/nostalgia/format for various reasons - I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way about vinyl and cds if stuff is available digitally these days. different strokes for different folks. those who like them buy them, those that don't don't - not much more or less pointless than collecting things on multiple colors of vinyl

  8. this, i really want to do do diy packaging but have the cassettes made pro, but the the band we just put out wanted the tapes to look old school and professional, so we did.

    i love tapes.

we've done a mix of about everything thus far (all pro duplicated on the CS side)

    but:

-screenprinted handcut J-cards/insert / imprint on tape

-hand splattered/double rubberstamped deluxe cardboard boxes, with an 11x17 lyric sheet inside+vinyl sticker imprint on tape

-regular standard laser printed j-card / imprint on tape

-sticker labels with standard laser printed j-card

-offset print covers with hand letterpressed covers

    -just offset print covers

working on three new tapes for next month one just a standard j-card/tape the other two I'm still drafting up the cases for them but they are going to be handcut / scored cardboard boxes with a bunch of cool shit.

    its fun, I like em

not the best photos but this was my favorite we have ever done - looked awesome - sold for shit (well...made way too many..2nd tape we ever did though. got a bit too ambitious)
