Hi ive had a record player for a few years but have never had it set up properly. I have recently read that the tone arm needs to be balanced correctly to avoid damaging the vinyl. The turntable i have is a budget one however i cant find any instructions online to explain how to balance the tone arm. Can anyone experienced advise please? The turntable is made my JAM.  Any help appreciated.

which model? if its the base model it looks like that has no adjustment at all unfortunately

.. IF it does have a counterweight, you will need to get a stylus force gauge, look up the specs of the cartridge and look at the stylus tracking force .. usually around 2g is standard... and then adjust the couterweight until the stylus force gauge reads 2g ...

Um. 3D Printed tonearm is not something standard in either Rega or Pro-Ject. It was a huge deal a few years ago when VPI put one out.

Also the plinth is real thick. Again, not standard.

Also also the feet  are better.

yup your're ringht.. however 3d printed arm IMO is pointless.. i'd be more comfortable to just buy something that has been tried and tested..

plith yup totally agree.. much better to have a bigger, heavier base..

feet ?!?! those spikes are the biggest wank under the sun.. im still yet to see any hard data on them doing exactly what the sales "gurus" are saying...

I recently got into the hobby and I found linear tracking turn tables, I found one on ebay and purchased it and I love it. So I don't understand why there aren't any being made new anymore? Is there somthing bad about them that I don't know about?

they're around..... although its more linear tracking tonearms that are more available than the "all in one" linear tracking TT .. i have the clear audio TT5 arm .. brilliant arm .. but i think one of the biggest downside to the linear tracking arm is how long it takes to get it right (compared to standard arms)

  4. Its time to cull.. starting with tests ... send offers.

shipping will be $15 fully tracked and insured .. (normally $25 from Australia but i'll meet half way)
