nah the police came over like 3 times. this was all yesterday. they've been dead silent all day today and their eviction process is already starting so this won't happen much longer, if at all. other than mild paranoia that he'll show up and kill me, i'm fine and so's my family.

 

Unless he's actually fucking insane, I don't think he'll live up to his threats.  Seems like he's gotta be hard for social things.  Not really his fault if you think about his childhood and living situations, I'm sure.

I started Silicon Valley last night and I can't believe I only watched 2 episodes and quit when it first came out.

We've been recording recently, but nothing polished up and mastered.  I'm afraid to put a rough demo online before we get everything together.

 

Right now we have 6 solid songs for a set and then a few that we couldn't play live (too long/weird/soft).  My guitarist was talking about funding a pressing of a few hundred 7" records, but I'm honestly terrified to get my work pressed into grooves.  I'm a bit of a perfectionist... 

Most electronic albums sound good no matter what speed you play at.

 

I like playing The Pod by Ween at slower/faster speeds.  It's already fucked up sounding, and messing with it makes it even more brown!

What kind of music do you play? I'll try and see you and say hello if you come to town

 

My solo stuff is more folky/punk stuff.  Think a young Tom Waits' gravelly baritone with a touch of Thom Yorke falsettos and a Nick Cave cadence (that's really hyping it up).

But then I have other solo acoustic stuff that's so goddamn saccharine I'm ashamed to play it in public.

 

The stuff with my band started as a groovy doom/noise experimentation.   After playing a couple house parties, we then developed into a surfy garage indie sound reminiscent of the Beach Goth scene. It's melodic and danceable, but still a little garage sloppy and noisy.  Fun music to play, fun music to dance to.

On another note:

 

I played a solo acoustic show last night. The guys I opened for said that it'd be a low-key event and that hardly anyone will be there.  Took a bit of stress off my shoulders because I'd rarely played a full acoustic set by myself.  When I show up, it was quite the opposite.  What I thought was going to be a smattering of 5-10 people turned out to be maybe 3-4 times that much.

 

It was a good show.

I can try.  Right now, it's more of a West Coast tour that'll likely go from Los Angeles to Seattle or so.  It's all up in the air still, but I'm hoping it comes to fruition soon enough!

Baklava would be good, but it's messy as fuck, and hard to get right unless you take the time.

Rice crispy treats, shortbread cookies, butter cookies, pound cake, or anything with caramel would require quite a bit.

 

I'm thinking of trying out something like nutter-butter marshmallow caramel fudge.  It'd be dense, potent, and tasty!

I've had a million brownies, cookies, lollies, etc.  I wanna surprise my friends with weird shit.  Something like peanut butter caramel snickers fudge or marshmallow creme pancake cookies.  Something strange and buttery.

 

Y'know, you have people give you a brownie and warn you "Take it easy with this shit, bro.  Start with a half and see where you are in two hours..."  But then two hours later I don't even have a head change and end up eating a quad dose to even feel it.

I want to make something that warrants the warning.  Something that a quarter of a single piece can keep you higher than a giraffe's asshole for the next 8 hours.  I want to make day-wreckers.  "Hope you don't have any plans..."

I need some pastry/candy/dessert recipes with a lot of butter in them.  I'm talking about something that uses 2-4 cups for a normal batch.  I would just mix up butter and sugar, but I figure an actual recipe would be better.  It just needs an exorbitant amount of butter.
