  1. I know I've mentioned this before, but this receptionist woman that my boss hired (the one that called out for 4 of the 5 days of her first week here and has continued to call out more than she's shown up) is scaring me.  Aside from the fact that she can't read directions or accomplish anything that has to do with traffic (we are a traffic engineer consulting firm, so....), she talks to herself constantly repeating the same words over and over and it's freaking me out.

I'm not a bitchy person but I just don't have any patience for her for some reason.  I just am not pleasant towards her and I can't even fake it for the sake of my reputation, lol.

With that said, everytime the phone rings it scares the shit out of her, which is entertaining to me.

I used to have a girlfriend like this outside of the calling into work. It was not fun. Lots of tears for no reason. However, she was quite good - looking and the sex was great.

  2. My boss and I were talking about some problems her daughters are having and one instance involves a boy who has never been kissed. She was like "Isn't that strange? At 18, a senior in high school, and he's never been kissed."

I was gonna let it slide, but as a 21 year old who has in fact, never been kissed...I let her know it isn't all that strange.

I guess I've always been more career driven, I've never cared what boys think about me.

But she was so shocked, I feel like everyone who finds this out is so shocked.

I'll never forget a close friend going "well, why not, you're pretty enough?"

Society puts such a high priority on sex and everything attached to it (getting married, having kids, etc.), but I think it is great that you have not given a shit and chosen to live for yourself.  Everyone expects everyone else to have a crazy high sexual drive, which includes you having to "like" someone, or to have a sexual desire that manifests itself in a way that you need to express it outwardly by physical expression.  If you do not exhibit these qualities it is looked at as weird or abnormal.  I bought into that stuff way too much in high school and wish I hadn't looking back, point is though, it is great that you can see past those.

  3. Yeah, even with the iCloud (which I never used) and their wireless syncing, it still holds an overbearing dependency on iTunes since everything still goes through it to function properly.  At least most people have a Gmail account for something, so that makes it super easy to sync the Androids.

I use the iTunes match service which works pretty well. Outside of throwing the files into iTunes I don't really need iTunes to do anything else.

  4. On a completely unrelated sidenote, I revived my non-ironic love of Gnarls Barkley today.

It's kind of crazy (pun unintended) how The Odd Couple was so underplayed compared to St. Elsewhere. It's so fun to listen to, such a strong album as a whole. Makes me sad that Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse never did anything Gnarls-related after that album.

Does The Odd Couple grow on you? I remember listening to it once when it came out, but  stuck for me.

  5. I managed to get 3 copies last night, but one of my merch girls claimed one... so after mine i have an extra up for grabs. a bunch of people messaged me about it.. so i guess the only fair way will be random.. put your name here if you're interested and when i get home tonite i'll draw a name for it? (according to the merch girl they're out of the tour press 7" color)

    3. i will package it in a mailer with 2 pieces of extra cardboard.. if the usps mangles it.. totally not my problem because i won't have a replacement for you.

if you can accept those its all good!

I'm entering too! Crossing my fingers!

  6. When my mom comes over to help take care of my child she does the dishes but always leaves dirt on them so I have to rewash them anyway. I don't know how to tell her to stop. Also, one time she put my Rival Schools - United By Fate in the window to block out the sun which resulted in the C/D side being significantly warped. She helps me out so much but holy shit is she losing her marbles.

  7. As far as indie folk I would check out Jose Gonzalez's solo record In Our Nature. He's part of Junip. Sharon Van Etten - Tramp is a great record as well. Anything by The Tallest Man On Earth. A Great Big Pile Of Leaves - You Are Always On My Mind. American Football - S/T. Fleet Foxes - both full lengths.

As far as hip-hop goes check out Diamond District - In The Ruff. Oddisee - People See What They Hear.

For Post Rock you could look into Sigur Ros and Godspeed! You Black Emporer.

  8. LOL...is this your first time on the internet?

This, and these boards are some of the most tame, sissified boards I've ever been on. If you can't handle this shit, you're fucked.

It's not that I "can't handle shit." I don't understand the mindset of being a dick for the sake of it, unless of course it's funny.

  9. Real name:
    Matt
    Favorite Bands:
Against Me!, NOFX, Propagandhi, Converge, Cave In, Anything Evan Weiss related, Get Up Kids, The Menzingers, Hum, Failure, Minus The Bear, this list could go on and on.

    Hobbies (outside of record collecting):
I play guitar and piano. Trying to find time to write songs when not putting all of my attention into my family and school. Also, I am trying to learn Photoshop right now which is a lot of fun.

Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!:

Used to play in a harcore/punk band and then a pop punk band but I'm too old now. I just want to spend time with wife and daughter.

Random things you want us to know about you:

I had an original pressing of Coheed & Cambria - In Keeping Secrets and sold it for $40 back in the day. So I guess I want everyone to know I'm an idiot.

  10. I got a blue copy and left it out by the record player.  My mom came over to watch my kid the next day and when I got home from work she had placed the sleeve in the window with the records still in the sleeve to block out the sun (there are two 2x2 windows in the corner of the living room of my apartment and not any good way to use curtains or blinds on them).  I use cardboard mailers in the windows to block out the sun, she thought there was no difference between those and actual records (she is in her late 70s).  Anyways, side C/D is so warped now that it is unplayable. I'm just lamenting my woes here, wonder if anyone else has had something like this happen.
