  1. "Everything and anything pertaining to records" I'm fairly sure this fits in that category. Sorry if you don't like the thread, just don't post in it.
  2. Just posting to wish you luck. Just picked up my copy a month or two ago and it might be the prize possession of my collection thus far
  3. I'm always interested in hearing people's answers. If you collect a lot of contemporary vinyl, your answer surely isn't sound quality - because most albums are recorded digitally these days and sound, technically, better as files on your computer. Of course no one will argue the merits of classic vinyl sounding better, though. Me, personally? Music is my life. I love talking music, listening to music, even thinking about music. I enjoy having a physical representation of the albums and bands that I love. CDs are cool but Vinyl is way cooler - the art is bigger, the inserts can be awesome, and seeing the disk spin on the turntable is fantastic to me. Especially colored vinyl. I'm a sucker for colored vinyl. Plus when I have friends over or when people want to know what kind of music I listen to, instead of just showing them the music on my iPhone, I can direct them to my vinyl bins and they can see a visual representation of my music taste, gorgeous artwork and all. Finally, I like vinyl culture because it encourages people to LISTEN to the music. These days people have far too much music ADD and flip songs halfway through and skip through albums. With Vinyl, you need to listen to at least a full side of music, and then consciously flip it to the other side. It forces you to listen to songs you may not like as much off the bat, and then potentially grow to love them. So why have YOU gotten into this infectious and expensive hobby?

  5. Wow. Let's all take a step back. Bringing this topic back into the limelight allows more people to be aware of it and take action, like tweeting the band with demand for it. Also, if anyone close to the band reads these forums Maybe they will bring it to the band's attention. Sure they know people want it but being constantly reminded can only help. Name calling only serves to make you look dumb.

  7. Yeah I picked up the new turntable, she's a beaut. Just need to get a replacement stylus and then I'll see if it fixes my woes
  8. Maybe they'll offer some crazy deluxe farewell to 3EB bundle with the vinyl of the new album, 3EB (re-issue) and Blue (re-issue) for like 100 bucks.
  9. Just got mine from TBR. Of course, as predicted, no special splatter. I thought it would be slightly more translucent regardless. Oh well. It's okay... #horribleluck #always congrats to those who got the specials ITT
  10. I wish there was a site that showed pics of awesome/unique colored varients. Discogs shows variations but is clunky to navigate in mass quantities.
  11. Very comforting. I'm actually going to pick up a Pioneer PL- 518 today so we'll see if that fixes stuff.
  12. Fair enough. Is there an inexpensive brush you can recommend?
  13. so my roommate and i tried to do some trial and error with a dime and a penny taping it in various spots nothing stopped that skip in his brand new record that kept happening at the same spot maybe it is just the record but i don't want to believe that a bunch of my brand new records skip too because of the record's imperfections. bah.
  14. But those things don't cause skips, scratches do... And these records are mostly brand new
  15. Can't adjust the needle. Could the issue be that I have it resting on the big speaker console box (sorry, don't know the name) which is resting on the floor?
  16. http://www.amazon.com/Technica-AT-LP60-Automatic-Driven-Turntable/dp/B002GYTPAE I have this guy. I know it's a budget table, but a lot of my brand new and scratchless records have a skip or two throughout the album. I'm wondering if it's something with my needle (which looks a tiny bit crooked to be honest) or the weight of the arm or something... there's no way it can be all my records
