  1. I messaged one person already about the Dessa RSD record. I can try to get a couple copies for people who want it. If anyone wants the Atmosphere Lake Nokomis Maxi Single, I should be able to get that with ease as well.

I would love to take you up on the atmosphere.

Somewhat related i have never done the rsd request as this is the first rsd i cannot make. How is this orchestrated closer to the date. People are just throwing out titles they want. Do people look for specific things? Is there a specific order based on when people requested it?

  2. Saw neutral milk hotel wednesday. If you get the chance go see it. And if you can avoid the festival vibe for it. Seeing them in a theater was the way to go. A very different feel than the mangum acoustic shows he did last year. He seemed to really enjoy these and like that it wasnt just him sitting on a stage by himself with 2000 photographing him.

  3. Beatnuts, The: Intoxicated Demons (The E.P.)

    Chapman, Michael: Wrecked Again

A Day To Remember: Old Record

Electric Wizard: Black Masses (Half Purple/ Half Grey Mix)

    El-P: Cure 4 Cancer

    Hawkins, Coleman: Wrapped Tight

    Kraftwerk: Ralf & Florian

    Neurosis: Pain of Mind

Good 24 hours for me!   Super pumped on that Neurosis.
  4. Posted in another thread, thought I'd asking here.

I think I'll try and go by my local Hot Topic today, and I'm busy and can't research what is worth picking up or possibly available there. What should I be looking for? What's worth snagging?

Stock at each story varies. You would really have to just go and look and see what you want. In regards to what is worth snagging it would really be what you are looking for personally or if there is something someone specifically requested on here you could snag it and work out getting it to them.

  5. There are alot of great suggestions in the prior pages an things i would have reccommended if not already said.

Some things to check out are:

Blue mitchell : the thing to do

    Alice coltrane: journey in satchidananda

    Lee morgan: sidewinder

    Clifford brown/max roach

If you are llooking for more free jazz type stuff i would go with:

    Anthony braxton

    Sunny murray

    Ornette coleman

    Milford graves

    Archie shepp

    Albert ayler

    Cecil taylor

    Art ensemble of chicago

All of those artists have things that range from more structured to really out there.

Also you cant really go wrong with john zorn. He really goes all over the place from the naked city stuff to the film soundtracks.

Being diving back into the electric masada stuff which some is more jewish music influenced, some free and some more structured. Got the chance to see it a few years ago and it was quite impressive.

  6. i wil think tonight and try and come back with a list of some essential and lesser known.  after working in a music store for years and having fellow employees recommend stuff i amounted a large collection of jazz. just grabbed some outliers and odd ball stuff i posted in the recently purchased thread.

i will also read through the past posts so im not being repetitive.

  7. It really depends on the type of jazz you are looking for. You can find alot of those instruments in almost all types of jazz but narrowing down what you like can be tough. Best bet is to find styles or genres you like and start diving deeper. It can help alot if you know you tried free jazz and you cant handle the chaos but like more of the 70s funk fusion stuff, etc.

Youtube has been a great help to try an artist or style and open up the rabbit hole of finding alot of new things.

  8. Traded in some cds at my local shop and decided to go in a different direction and pick up some off tilt jazz and blues.

    Grabbed the following:

    7"

Cedell Davis: For The Love of Jesus

    12"

    Embryo: Opal (Psychy Kraut Rock)

Kriwaczek, Rohan: The Art of Funerary Violin (18th Century funeral songs done with violin and kick snare, quite interesting and beautiful)

Harley, Rufus: Bagpipe Blues (Guy plays saxophone and bagpipes, pretty awesome)

Harriott: Joe: Indo Jazz Suite (Quintet of Jazz and quintet of traditional indian instruments playing together)

  9. Went back for a second order.

Almost all of what I wanted to grab was still available.  Only 2 were back ordered.

    Electric Wizard: Black Masses (Backordered)

    El-P: Cancer 4 Cure

August Burns Red: Rescue & Restore (Backordered)

    Beatnuts: Intoxicated Demons

A Day To Remember: Old Record

    Michael Chapman: Wrecked Again

Can not complain for $60 shipped if they all end up being delivered.

If still going on will probably go back and grab a few more at next pay day.

  10. Title says it. Bought two tickets and person had to cancel last minute. All others who were interested had prior obligations. Still going to the show so we could be concert buddies!

Just looking to get cost back on this. With all the nonsense charges it came out to $40 a ticket. Tickets in lower level and show sold out within the first few days.

Message me and lets do this!

  11. Also grabbed a few things in the past week.

Blink 182: The Mark, Tom & Travis Show (Clear w/ Splatter)

    Deafheaven: Sunbather (Pink & Yellow)

    Flaming Lips, The: The Terror

Have Heart: The Things We Carry (Clear)

Have Heart: Songs To Scream At The Sun (Green)

    Nine Inch Nails: The Slip
