1. Are you still trying to get boys to do your homework for you or do you want to start a huge fight? Quick notes from a unique perspective...Collected up to 2010, stoped and wasn't paying attention untill last Summer, three years. Up untill this past year, I only collected Punk and DownTempo Hip-Hop. I never collected any of the mainstream "Classics" that I grew up with. 90's Grunge and Alternative. Why??? Those records were out of print, old, beat up and expensive. Majors focus on the money and there's more to be made when there's less production to be done. At the same time as MP3's were gaining in popularity Punk labels were putting download codes in the records for free (A lot of them first started by putting CD's in the records and then it became DL codes). This is one of the big things that really helped kick start the resurgence. Do I buy the DL from Apple for 8 bucks or the record and DL for $12??? The major labels hate all of this. Giving away free product, Digital DL, more production for the records, Higher cost, equals less profit. But times are tough and businesses has to adjust. The rise in popularity has compelled the majors to become invested in vinyl again. Three years later, last Summer, I started collecting again and it's a new landscape in some ways and exactly the same in others. The Punk & Alt labels are still living off mac & cheese and artistically, more and more as time goes on (record production as an art form in and of itself??? Yup, that's where it's heading,) producing records for bands that they love far too much...On the other side, Unlike three years ago, today I can pretty much buy any mainstream record I want and most of them have been remastered(sometimes this doesn't work out though) and semi- decked out on better quality materials. This is why I love the resurgence. It's giving me the chance to own vinyl that without it, wouldn't be available to me. And as majors continue to press vinyl I think they might be getting back into the spirit of music and records. The resurgence also allows them to press less popular titles too. And they do that more and more. Too many people moan and complain about how expensive these records have become and for good reason. My complaint's a bit different, I'll pay good money for a super decked out Remastered whatever...for an album that's important to me but notice my description above, "semi-decked out." I wasn't annoyed that Nirvana's 20th Annv., triple LP for In Utero was $55.00. I was annoyed that there wasn't any kind of booklet. I expected the same 20 odd page booklet that came with the super crazy CD set. It wasn't there and I felt cheated. And majors need to stop acting like printed inner sleeve are gonna kill them. Overall, the resurgence is a beautiful thing. When has having more options ever been a bad thing? Let's just class it all up a bit more. And I think that's all a matter of time. Ironing out the details and creating new standards. Are you going to post a copy of your report here, for us? I'd like to read it. Edit: Here's an example, just stumbled upon this, a repress of System of a Down's Toxicity Album? Yes Please! Two days ago, it was Mars Volta's De-loused in the Comatorium. http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/100520-system-of-a-down-toxicity-repress-on-mov/
2. I stored my collection, about 500 LP's/700 7"s for three years, two and a half years in one place and then moved them and stored them for another six months. I have two, 2X4 Ikea Expidits and I put them lengthwise on top of each other and on top of an executive desk and filled them like normal. Not too tight, not too loose and never laying flat. It was as if a day hadn't passed...As annoying as they are, I use polyE resealable jap bags on my records, I'm sure they helped some.
3. I had an OG Siren songs of the counterculture that I bought in 05. They weren't going for a lot untill the last few years. Its not the same as, finding a clear decline in the dollar bin at Ameba Records (that's the version I heard) but people were paying $200-400 for it, and I spining it without a clue. I was pretty shocked that I didn't know. I like knowing the history on my records and their value is apart of that. It could be possible. Now the person owns the store and the dollar bin, should know better...
4. The blue streaks is from the original clear /155? Have any gone at auction? Good to hear the Opaque pops up on occasion, I might own one some day. -I want 3-4 more smoked declines to show the variance and the weird opaque blue guy. -An OG Longest Line that's more blue than purple -White Errorism -Color 7" Box set -30th ann. LP Box(just the box, probably have to buy a set and sell the other stuff) -7" OTM 2XLP on blue -22 songs on yellow, maybe I could care less about any differences for my collecting purposes but I do like to know the background of my records. It's free nerding. I wouldn't call it a variant, if I was variant collecting it either. I think I'm the only person with a 2014 copy at the moment so just offering details on it. The stickering difference, if there is one, doesn't really help people with a 2010 anyway since it seems that all one would need to do is toss the wrap and call it 2010. unless they were pressed and packaged at the same time, there has to an identifier. It's pretty difficult to make an Identical press years apart when it's the goal, to do it buy accident...Improbable.
5. I've never seen or heard of a clear decline with blue streaks!!! I like see it. I've seen pictures of Opaque blue/grey swirl Decline that were from the 2010 Fat Classic? These are off the FatWiki. Is it a spoof? Cause I'd consider paying a lot for it. I don't even know how many were found if it's real.
6. Point taken. That was, in my mind what was making it "impossible." How's the Autographed Lance Benefit Wolves /22 commonly considered. Would that be the limiter or the wierd Bluesplatter Decline? What's the limiting record for NOFX completion? I have nothing but the up most respect for hardcore variant collectors of any category. You can't get more authentic or intense than batshit crazy. I'm half joking but it's true. And after thinking about Epitaph last night, I've never had more respect for them. They press limited color responsibly.
7. Compared to Discogs the matrix is the same and the original UPC is the same But UPC sticker that covers it on the cellophane is different and there's no mention of one for the 2010. We're sure the UPC sticker and color sticker are Identical? Matrix / Runout: (Side A): 86444-1-A S-31747 Matrix / Runout: (Side A): 86444-1-B S-31748 Discogs 2010 Barcode: 0 457786444-1 4
8. Uhg! Were is the auto saved content? I lost a big post. Frig that's annoying The side border is thinner than the other three but it's there. Someone said something about these being part of the same batch from 2010. I'm gonna look around for it. maybe these have black mixed in with a variance through the press. there's still at least 499 more to check out. Here's a link to a full sized pic of the front cover; http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/ag105/Alphanumerica/IMAG2575_zpse4e3ecf7.jpg Just an FYI, The Creeps and Outtacontroller are sick! Hi-Five Weird Canada! These Walls by The Creeps Remote Control by OUTTACONTROLLER And Variant Collecting! I think Epitaph is having their cake, eating it and serving it up as well...After the 2009 represses were released It wasn't long after that the 2010's were announced like a month or so. and then January 2010 they started dropping. a lot of people were pissed and I was at a point were I was deciding if I was gonna start variant collecting NOFX. It seemed like they might go No Idea style but with the opposite philosophy. The speculation was actually a major part of the reason I slowed my collecting down. But they didn't do it. Other than the winter of 09-10 and maybe random exception here or there have they consistently had back to back limited color pressings for anything? Thinking about it all now I think Epitaph is paying perfect attention to demand. There's obvious intent of differentiating the presses from each other, generally. What was Trans is Opaque and vice versea. They don't have to do that. And if you spend a lot of money on a record, ebay or something and don't understand and except that it can be repressed and indistinguishable from your white whale at any moment, you're really just fooling yourself. But this still rarely happens. We know that there's been hold ups and changes made to the press numbers, colors may have changed as well for the HT & epitaph colors. And there's been nothing stopping them that I know of from having every record they produce stocked on a limited color for always. They haven't done that. This round has more stuff being put on limited color for the first time than color represses. And the full story on AOCTW is down the road and at worst, it's the exception not the standard. I'm just chatting about it all. I too, once felt obligated to buy ugly records. RAR on purple swirl anyone? Pick a press! I laugh at myself for attempting to collect the impossible. And NOFX is impossible too right? Not that there's anything wrong with attempting the impossible, just understand that you're gonna get creamed. I think there's one person that has the possibility and probably does. But only because Fat Mike gave him a copy of the 7" he pressed for his Ex-wife engagement or something, along with a death threat if he ever made the music public or the record left his possession. It's /5 or /10. And have any copies of the Lance Benefit autographed Wolves in Wolves on Yellow swirl /22, w/ thank you note ever auction or get traded? Good luck on that guy. And if anyone is looking to start an Against Me collection, PM me...
9. That's a bummer for collectors with a 2010. But if they kept the indie store variants at 500 it's still the rarer of the two, unless there's a notible diffrence between the reds. For $50+shipping you can have mine. You won't even have go to the store. You'll save gas and time, you won't even have to unseal it. You'll basically be making money...
10. I won't hold it against you. Just kidding. I never bought anything past wolves but I downloaded Life Won't wait a few days ago just in case it grabbed me. It's good but all my amazing albums are draining the bank. I'll capitalize and bold "MY" when I post pictures of MY essential Pennywise.
11. It's completely white with a black smudge off to the right of the B side center Label. Any obvious differences from 2010? My Rancid problem is under control. My Essential Rancid.
12. Just starting to focus on a Floyd Collection. This is good timing. I've been watching the original LP on blue. It consistently goes for around a hundred. I'd rather get a decked out version and then spend the hundred on a Japanese Relics on Red...
13. Dear Epitaph, Please repress Recipe For Hate on maybe say Trans-Smoky Brown, Like the Hot Topic SLAT's. That way, it would match the artwork and it wouldn't be the same as any of the other Bad Religion variants I have. That would mess up my collection. Thanks, Sm0kedDecline My White AOCTW is at the post office, I'll post pics tonight. keevhren?!?! I remember your screen name from a long time ago. You have the craziest BR collection ever, I assume you still have them. There's a Hot Topic Version and a indie store variant for each and The Epitaph Web Store seems to be loosely following that but hasn't done all of them, has had some exclusives and isn't announcing anything, just dropping random bombs! This what's known, the colors are indie store, Hot Topic and Epitaph store(if they've done one) The Opaque Lime Green Generators are just starting to show up and the HT Generator on Grey Swirl hasn't dropped yet. Trans Pink No Controls are online and possibly at your local store and Trans Blue No Control's, I think are still on HT's website. The Dates are tentative HT drop dates and change because of RSD pile ups, so it's a guide line at best; Is Impact still around? 14. I'd help people out but Canada's only alotted 100 copies of each variant. I can't cheat my fellow Weird Canadian's yet. They're just not out yet. I seriously think these are dropping in the states for RSD. I know nothing about this store are bunk or are they on it? http://www.recordshopx.com/artist/bad_religion/generator_lime_green_vinyl/ http://www.recordshopx.com/search/?q=nofx&f=music&l=ab&l=c&l=d http://www.recordshopx.com/search/?q=rancid&f=music&l=ab&l=c&l=d http://www.recordshopx.com/search/?q=pennywise&f=music&l=ab&l=c&l=d Pretty green generator, pretty green generator...
15. Ok there we go, the trans purple is 2010. Man I was really excited about that possibility...Thinking I might be able to trade it for a white Errorism! I got it at my local, They have practically all of them at the moment except Rancid stuff. I kinda want the green PID and Blue Lamb, but I already have the Beer Brown PID and Pink Lamb. Too easy to loose control and Impossible to complete. That trans Against the Grain has me on edge, I want it really bad but I have the opaque yellow and my first OG press. If I grabbed the trans yellow It would be retarded to not pick up both purples, I'd have to, It's a perfect set. When I feel the urge, I just look over at my 70+ copies of RAR and It goes away...
16. So has no one gotten an indie store NOFX White Trash? Indie Store's on purple and all the pics online I've seen are translucent. Please degrade and berate me if I'm wrong...because I got mine yesterday and it's opaque purple with blue swirl?!? Are the Translucent one's from 2010 or do we variants of the variants? I know 2009 was white /300... Oh, and I'd like to take a moment to praise the shit out of Bad Religion... Recipe for hate came out when I was 15. I heard it at a tower records listening booth and loved it and thought it was their first album. We didn't have Internet then so find some thing else to heckle me about...A year latter my friend pops 80-85 into my CD player and I was lost for words. I'm asked him who it was and he said, It's Bad Religion, that bad you got me into. And I'm think man they've changed a lot in a year... So I went Recipe, 80-85, Suffer and Against the grain that's it. I always new about Generator and No Control but never owned then or knew the songs too well. And I haven't listened to BR regularly(daily) for a long time, other than for a few months in 2009, when the first set of represses came out. So, looking at BR's discog a few months ago and what was being repressed, I started thinking about picking up No Control and Generator to have a complete BR collection for the entire time period that I liked. And I knew that I would like both albums at worst but I didn't expect to be completely blown away by both of them. Super stocked on all of this junk! Here's pics of the Opaque's, White Trash and Generator;
17. The place I got mine are sold out and I haven't been digging recently cause I've got copies of what I wanted, I think I'm grabbing a yellow about time and blue S/T from Hot Topic. Plus Canada is only getting 100 copies of each variant. The last two waves of this stuff has hit Canada first for some reason. I think it's because there's only one main distributor, less hands to travel through. A few online are are advertising the Wolves and Generator as RSD releases. they arent on the RSD list or even the unofficial release list but Epitaph could still be asking stores in the states to do that. Total speculation, I don't know the politics on any of that stuff... And the Epitaph Store has a few that are their own, that I didn't buy and didn't add. Hope they have another surprise or two for us. Like, Christmas in July perhaps...
18. OK, I haven't seen pics of any of the new ones but someone mentioned the Wolves being heldback. I hope they're different, same with the pink slats. I've seen indie store on Orange, 2xLP. This what I have writen down for the presses. It's indie store, Hot Topic and then epitaph if there is one as of yet. Ignore the dates, and breath...Some numbers may be off. it seems the indie and Epitaph store stuff is /500. 19. The indie store wolves is white, Indie NOFX PID is green and the red wolves from HT. All three could be from the 2010 presses. Why would them back though?
20. Recalabrating your antiskate and weight on a regular basis is a good habit to get into. Especially if its just the first or last song on a side. white - ...and outcome the wolves & green generators are popping up online. I picked up my copies today.
21. It looks sweet. I try to stay with one variant per. but some of theses look so good. If the indie store SLATFATS is too similar to the 09 I might switch out to this one. Edit: A few web stores are now calling BR - Generator on opaque green and Rancid - ...and out come the wolves on white RSD releases.
