  1. Wow, the white is sold out at most places now in UK.

only places still listing as not sold out

    Bleep

    Phonica

    Piccadilly

    Crash

    Diverse - can't promise you'll actually get a copy.

Heard through a friend who has contacts at XL that it's a pressing of 3000 - 1k for UK, 1k for UK, 1k for EU. this kind of makes sense with how fast they have sold out - and also how many Uk stores will get this - 20 stores ? bigger stores getting 100 copies (Rough Trade, Piccadilly etc) , mid sized stores getting 50 copies (Banquet, Norman etc) and some smaller ones getting 10-20 etc. I can't verify for any of this but ???

Yes. I've played this LP 3 times now and I just have to say it is most excellent. I'm a big fan fan of Nils frahm anyway, but this is without a doubt my favourite of all his releases. The duo set up with F.S Blumm on guitar just works so well. my favourite LP of the year so far...without a doubt. I can't see anything toppling it tbh. The whole mastering, packaging and recording is splendid and the pressing is of the highest quality. it sound like the two are in your front room.

Nice Thorens by the way. is that an RB300 arm on it ?

  3. there is something about this sound that gets better the more I listen to it , and i have to admit it's not normally the thing I'd go for. Now have the 12" at home and after 2 spins it's getting inside me. looking forward to the album..

there are some more copies of the 12" available in a couple of German online shops. It's sold out in UK everywhere now and as only 100 were made it's interesting that any made it out of the UK.

  4. is the cartridge new on your project ? as the stylus tip wears out over time it digs deeper into the records grooves and thus digs out any muck and dust that may be hiding there. a new stylus tip is basically a V shape - over time and lots of vinyl playing the sides of this V wear out making the angle of the V more acute. one of the first tell tales of a worn stylus before the sound goes off is the ball of dust half way through a side.

as your previous stylus on the ion was basically a heap of shit its been churning up your records and depositing muck at the bottom of the grooves.

  5. Great.

So if you could post a list of your entire record collection with release dates and matrix numbers, I'll have a skim through and swap any valuable first presses you may have for recent reissues okay? Cool. PM me

I'll take the hit for posting this.....

These ARE NOT variants to be worried about! Everybody has a collector mentality and its dumb...

Since the beginning albums have had to be repressed due to demand, and/or just the sheer amount they pressed had to be done in waves.

Look at any other Bowie album though out his career...granted some may be better quality than others when you take into account the questionable 'remasters' they push out now, or old budget line presses... but are people really so concerned whether their copy of Hunky Dory came out in March of '71 or five months later in August of '71 or February of '72? No, because they are virtually indistinguishable save maybe some 'number' somewhere on it.

Just like Blackstar now, if you give a fuck whether you're copy was printed 7 months ago, or 3 weeks ago with differences you'd have to search over the entire release with a magnifying glass and use scale to find. You suck.

This album will be in print for some time now, which is good... that matters, not a couple numbers on the cover or record label!

  7. Just got mine and i'm sorta pissed off. Ordered two, they came unsealed? And corner bumped. Also the inset on one is FUCKED up. Whack. Especially for that much money. =( anyone elses came like shit or is this just my luck?

they weren't sealed in the first place. if you want them sealed take them to a packaging company that does sealing and ask them to seal them for you. Actually you could ask them to seal it twice for you, a seal over the seal as it were...twice the protection. this way you get the fetishistic pleasure of the breaking the seal whilst maintaining it's sealed status...

    Win Win

  8. It's all relative to what you have heard.

If the best you have heard is a technics 1200/1210 then that is the best you have heard. however at that price range a second Rega Planar 3 properly set up with a decent cartridge (DV10x5) will blow the Technics out of the water. stick the RB300 arm on a technics 1200 and it improves it (the sound) two fold as the Technics arm is pretty basic and functional for heavy DJ usage.

I have a friend of mine who for years has sworn by the Technics and always singing it's praises (he's an ex DJ). He came round one evening for a beer and I played him a Brian Eno LP on my Linn LP12 (Ittok arm, Dynavector DV20, Lingo 2 PSU, Heed quasar phono stage) - I had to scrape his jaw off the floor. next day he pings me an email asking for advice on buying an LP12 as he could no longer listen to his Technics deck knowing how good vinyl can really sound.

  9.

    Just got this from Luna:

I am writing to let you know that we were given mucho mis-information on how many of the vinyl films box set we were set to receive.

as it stands right now, we simply did not get enough to fulfill any orders, outside of the physical retail location.

yes. i know. it completely bunk to pre-order something—only to be told it is not going to happen.

i am upset about this and tried, to no avail this week at a national meeting, to get more.
    no. go.

Whats the betting Luna have this for sale on discogs in a few weeks at 'flipper' prices ?
