  1. We are EXTREMELY EXCITED to announce that Louisville, KY trio White Reaper has officially joined the Polyvinyl family! Their self-titled debut EP will be released 6/24 on CD, LP (180-gram clear pink vinyl), tape, and digital formats. Pre-orders are up now right here. The band – formed by Tony Esposito (vocals/guitar) and twin brothers Nick (drums) and Sam Wilkerson (bass) -- combines sparkling hooks and fluid, fluttering rhythms to create psychedelia-tinged garage punk that make heads bob without sacrificing an ounce of sonic bite. See for yourself with the first single, "Half Bad," which made its debut on Pitchfork yesterday. One listen to this and I guarantee it won't leave your head for a week...probably longer! Find out more about White Reaper on their artist page, or follow them at one of the links below. 2. Exciting news! Pre-orders for Stagnant Pools' new album, Geist, are up now on our E-store. The album will be released 6/10 on CD, LP (clear vinyl), cassette (blue tape), and digital formats. Following the release of their debut full-length Temporary Room in the fall of 2012, Stagnant Poolsembarked on several high profile tours supporting the likes of David Bazan, Maximo Park, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Japandroids and more. All that time spent on the road exposed brothers Bryan (guitar/vocals) and Douglass Enas (drums) to a world outside their Indiana-based upbringing and introduced them to a slew of like-minded people. The experience of playing so many shows also gave the sibling duo a fresh perspective on their strengths and weaknesses as a band, feedback the pair took to heart while spending last year working on new material. The result is Geist. Ten songs recorded live to tape by Matt Talbottt (Hum) that refines and expands on a shoegaze-meets-noise pop sound that has previously drawn comparisons to Joy Divison, Sonic Youth, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Listen to first single, "Intentions," now on Consequence of Sound.
  3. Recorded in the attic and living room of guitarist Will Knauer's home, Broom, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's debut record, is an expertly crafted indie pop gem. Originally, SSLYBY had a simple ambition: to make the “Local Releases” bin at CD Warehouse. However, Broom turned into a classic rock ‘n’ roll record -- the kind where pop perfectionism meets studio experimentations and each track flows effortlessly. Seemingly innocuous pop songs are molded by happy accidents of fate -- sometimes involving unexplained swarming sounds and doubled drums tracks -- into the warm, ethereal tracks that made the album into a sensation. In addition to CD, LP and digital, we're excited to now offer Broom as a limited edition picture disc! These will be limited to just 300 copies and will come packaged in a sturdy, clear sleeve with protective flap. Each pre-order also comes with an instant mp3 download of the entire album. Pre-Order: Broom Picture Disc Ships on April 18.

Let the bidding commence: http://www.ebay.com/sch/polyvinylrecords/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Making CDs is predictable. You send a master off to the duplication plant and wait for thousands of shiny, identical discs to arrive. Vinyl is a very different beast. Making a record is an intricate process that starts with the creation of a master lacquer, which is then plated in metal and used to make a negative version of the record, called a stamper, that serves as the basis for mass production. During this chain of events something can always go wrong --- causing pops, skips, crackles or distortion. You name it, we've heard it many times over. Which brings us to test pressings, a very necessary part of the vinyl production process that helps catch these sorts of problems before all of the records are manufactured. By their very nature, test pressings are rare and unique. They're the first taste we receive of each album on vinyl and only a small number are ever made, making them sought after by fans and collectors. In fact, one of the most frequently asked questions we receive year after year is "Hey fine folks at PV, do you have any test pressings for sale?" The sad truth is, after a few test pressings are given to PV bands as keepsakes, the remaining copies just sit on a shelf in the dark recesses of our office. And so, for a limited time, we're giving you the opportunity to bid on these special items and support a great cause at the same time! A variety of titles are being offered in the hope that you see something you like and enjoy the chance to own a special piece of a treasured album.
  11. By the way - some random pre-orders may have a nice surprise waiting for you when they arrive.
  12. Still some Light Blue copies and a nice yellow tape for those that still have a tape player! Shipping 3/14.
