Yeah, for as "limited" of a guitar player Mike Turner supposedly was, out of this band's 4 best albums he co-wrote three and played on all four. Also all four were produced by Arnold Lanni and sound great.
It makes me think of Coheed and Cambria and Josh Eppard. The albums without him are good in their own ways, but they sound extremely different and are lacking the groove that is unique to Josh. Once he came back, they "sounded like Coheed" again to me. Claudio is obviously the face of the band and plays a massive role in writing and shaping the music, but for me Josh is the glue that makes them stick. Mike Turner obviously had more to do with what made Our Lady Peace so good than Raine would like anyone to believe.
Yep, agree fully.....excellent comparison. Josh gives Coheed that sound, as did Mike and Jeremy Taggart's unique drumming on the first four OLP albums. From what I remember back in the day, it was Bob Rock that suggested the change to Jeremy's drumming on subsequent records beginning with Gravity to a "less is more" style which made him sound like every other boring rock drummer to some extent.

Gravity just sounded like a departure from the sound/style that made them so great in their previous albums and to me just sounded a bit like bubblegum rock. There are a handful of tracks on it that are pretty good though, poppy and overly produced as they might be. And i really tried hard to get into all the albums that came after and just found myself utterly bored. meh, oh well. Was not aware that Gravity got a recent pressing, hope you find it for a reasonable price.
Bob Rock killed this band along with Mike Turner's departure. Anything after Spiritual Machines is exactly as you mentioned, poppy and overly produced with intent to hit the mainstream market and appeal to the masses.

There should be plenty of tickets for ATL left bc everything is GA. I was easily able to pull up tickets for ATL through the presale yesterday. Looking for Nashville, which is closer to me, was giving me nothing but nosebleed seats.
-
I wouldn't wait around too long to get down there for tickets. They are selling them in lots of 2 so that's 500 folks spread across 3 locations. People started lining up as soon as this was announced on twitter.

I scored two tickets for the HOB show in NOLA!! Super stoked after missing out on the Ryman show.
-
shipping notice received for box set......attaboy #jenkins!!
-
Does anyone from NOLA have details on a possible "secret" show this week?? The ACL taping was pushed to this Thursday so not sure how that affects things.
-
Checked out with box set as well....come on Jenkins don't fail me now!!
-
Based on that logic...one would be without TCATS. And a world without that album would be quite shitty in my opinion.

Wrigley Field show sold out in like a day or something. People were all up in arms because of a mix up with the fan presale. I have been following these guys since the 90's and it is insane how huge they are now.
-
Some guy over on the FF forum bought every damn cover....it had to happen I s'pose! Must admit it looks pretty sweet!
I preordered the NY cover and received it with Flexi yesterday.
-
I received shipping notice from the Foo's store about an hour or so ago. No mention of the flexi in the email but hoping it is in there.
-
My shit luck continues in trying to land tickets to one of the "secret" shows.....still holding out hope for NOLA or NYC.
-
Thanks for the head's up on this one....hoping to snag at least a S/T, but a box set would be nice!
-
I ordered the Beatles Mono box set on Monday and received it yesterday. Packaging was perfect. I have been tempted to place an additional order but after dropping $240ish, I have had to tap the breaks.

Just throwing a Hail Mary out....if anyone is going to the show at the Ryman and needs a +1, I will pay for both of our tickets. Thanks!
-
I think getting tickets to this show was the equivalent of winning the lottery. Congrats to the select few that were successful.
-
Holy hell, the Foo's at the Ryman!! I guess I will be trying to get tix to this show as well. Good luck to all of us trying!! I have wanted to see these guys in smaller venues for the longest. I stopped going to their shows once they started playing ginormous stadiums, it just wasn't the same.
-
I went ahead and preordered with Bullmoose. Per their website, they don't charge your card until right before shipment and like mentioned above, anything above $25 ships for free.

I enjoyed Eight Arms at the time in my teens, but I feel like American Thighs has aged better. Of course it may have to do with my disdain for Bob Rock and the way he managed to over polish things like Eight Arms and then go on to utterly destroy one of my (previously) favorite bands, Our Lady Peace.
