  1. Slinch, thanks! The wife come in from work as I'm unpacking things (still waiting on the TT to arrive) and says, well, I was thinking of getting you a "record" player for Christmas, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been anything you'd have wanted. I just smiled and said that was a sweet thought. lol
  2. I found one solution albeit an expensive one. I decided to go in an entirely different direction after initially just thinking I would build a somewhat simple playback system to mix recordings, with the added convenience of a TT. Instead, today, I received a pair of beautiful rosewood Wharfedale Diamond 10.2s and a Marantz PM6005 to use as my primary system that I'll expand on over time. I'll probably just keep the BX5s as part of a second system to use with my computer to mix recordings as originally planned. Torres was correct about my above comment, sorry about my poorly worded statement. Thanks for the comments.
  3. The pets are what worry me. I have two 90 pound dogs and my setup is in the vicinity of the window so I can see them knocking them over. Today I brought home some cheap mdf type tables but the wife isn't having it. haha The Sanus stands look pretty nice and quite affordable. Thanks ajxd.
  4. Not sure what size speakers you have, however, I bookmarked some stands I seen in a thread I was reading here somewhere the other night. Someone had posted about using velcro strips to secure the speaker to the stand, if I remember right. They're at Amazon I'm also in search of a less expensive option since I don't really want to drop $200 on stands the speaker manufacturer is offering.
  5. I'm on the mobile so I'll be brief. There were two reasons I selected BX5. 1. I plan to use them for a playback system for mixing audio recording that I do with the understanding I would obtain a more clear representation of the actual recording without much flavor added by other type speakers. 2. The price point. I found these thanks to torres's other thread at an unbelievable $149 price.
  6. Slinch thanks for the quick reply. I'll have to look at those. What was leading me down the receiver path was the eventual addition of a subwoofer. If the phono stage won't work for that it may at least do what I need for now. Thanks again
  7. With black Friday sales I wanted to finally get a turntable setup to play my vinyl. I'm not really smart with all of home stereo systems and I've been researching trying to learn and understand more. Thought I would put that out there in case I misspeak or refer to something incorrectly. Primarily I'm looking for a setup as I said to play by vinyl with a secondary role as a playback system for mixing my field audio recording. So far I have ordered the Project Debut Carbon DC and M-Audio BX5 D2 monitors. And I believe the next piece to the puzzle is to find a receiver. It's almost looking like I may have to look towards the home theater type receivers? Can anyone recommend a receiver that has line level outs so I can use powered monitors? All the receivers I find have speaker level outs. I would also like a receiver that I can eventually connect a subwoofer. Budget would probably be in the $300 to $500 range. Thanks for any help!
