  1. Thank freaking God I'm not the only one. I was feeling sketchy about this guy two days ago when he contacted me to buy a La Dispute and Man Overboard record off him for $40. He said his PayPal wasn't working and that it was somehow "hacked" or something. Then he wanted me to pay him through email and that's when I knew that it wasn't safe at that point. I told him I was sorry and that once his PayPal was cleared up I might buy from him because I would feel so much safer through PayPal. I guess not anymore. I'm so glad I didn't go through with that deal because I was so close to doing it. I knew in the back of my head it probably was too good to be true when he offered to sell two expensive records to me for $40ppd and he only had 2 posts and one feedback by some guy who also has very few posts. This could be a potential scammer so beware to everyone here on the boards.

Same thing happened to me. He offered me a fantastic deal for TDWP and Underoath, but said they "froze" his paypal account and I had to wire him the money. Deal with caution here, guys.

  2. Muncie(ish area), Indiana.
I know we used to have a ton of great bands, but once a lot of the bands that I liked/was friends with split, I stopped going to shows as much as I used to. I do know we still have:

    Mapmaker: http://mapmakerindy.bandcamp.com/releases

    Foreveratlast:

(They actually kind of don't count because they just got signed to Victory, but they're a great band and deserve more listens. Also probably some of the nicest people I know!)

    Burn the Army: http://burnthearmy.bandcamp.com/album/the-tide-to-sink-the-summit

A few bands not together anymore, but are still worth checking out:

    And the Sky Will Burn:

    Refractions: http://refractions.bandcamp.com/

    Ghost of Maine: http://ghostofmaine.bandcamp.com/track/we-all-float-down-here

    Creating Constellations:

Someone from Indy should chime in, we've got a pretty big local scene and I'm sure I'm forgetting people/there's stuff I haven't heard.
  3. Waves, have you tried checking this album out on Popsike?

    http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=beatles+help+orange&incldescr=&sortord=ddate&thumbs=&currsel=

The most recent copy sold (with only one bid) for $76, but the majority of the copies of this are selling fairly recently from 25-50 bucks. The median price on discogs is $51 right now, and the median price on popsike is just $41.
I assure you, no one is going to buy a copy of that album for $132. Just because the high end is currently $132, it doesn't make $66 a deal for someone that would be really into this album and looked into prices. Even with your bargaining system, it would be more accurate to look at what's sold and not what's listed currently. People are completely off on their listing prices on Discogs sometimes.

For example, right now someone has the August Burns Red- Rescue and Restore boxset listed for $250 on discogs, when it's still up on their merchdirect site for $60. Doesn't mean it's worth that.

I do appreciate your enthusiasm for your business, but this is like opening a mini mart in Walmart's home town. You have to have excellent prices or some other unique incentive, or people are just going to head off to Discogs and buy that copy that's 5 dollars less, or add the item to their wantlist and wait until they find one in a better price range.

Edit: Read it wrong, that actually is sold out. Sorry guys. Haha.
