  1. Yeah, I didn't know the whole story, sorry. But I wasn't defending them either. Like I said, they didn't have the rights from Nintendo, but from Sony, so no rights to individual tracks, but I could see, that from their point of view, that they may see your record as detracting from sales of theirs. They went after it really aggressively, and likei said stole your email list, and posted tons of crap on social media, which bothered me. I personally thought their Kickstarter campaign was misleading, and brought up what it actually was on several forums (an arrangement album, with a medley only at the end on a D side). A lot of people were surprised by that, because most thought it was a straight OST. After all that I feel I can't support them. Sorry to hear you regret it, while I really like that track, it's too bad it's caused you so many problems.
  2. Yeah, it's an arrangement album by a nineties by a no-name British pop band. And a medley of most of the OST on a single track at the end.
  3. The Mother track was Pollyanna, I think, on the NES Greatest Hits record. STS licensed the entire arrange album from Sony, who still had rights to it. Pollyanna is on the D Side medley, but not individually licensed. Essentially people could have bought the Moonshake release for this one track, instead of having to find it on the D Side of the arrangement. I can see why STS wouldn't like this, but technically they don't have the rights to that single track, because that would have had to have come from Nintendo.Still doesn't make it legal on his end even if they don't have the specific legal rights to one song, but I could definitely see why they'd get up in arms. The other stuff though is what bugs me though.
  4. That'd be the best, having both that is. One way or the other you're going to piss off fans if you don't include one of the versions, so if it were released, both versions would honestly be the way to go.
  5. They're products look great. Seriously, I've weighed in on buying Mother 2 several times. But that's not my problem. My problem is going out of their way to badmouth somebody. It just looks bad, and seems childish, and I did follow them and a few others on Instagram for a bit. Also they did hijack his original mailing list (originally comprised of NintendoAge members) as I mentioned previously, or somebody related to them with info about their "upcoming KS campaign" did at the least. I can't say whether they were involved with any of the rest of it, and I would never say definitively they were, but that really tarnished my ability to believe anything they posted afterwards, and their posts on Instagram and other social media singling him out, without any apparent reason other than "he's a dirty bootlegger", really makes me hesitant to support them. It's not that I care they're jumping a guy for doing something illegal, but going out of your way to attack anybody, for really any reason, on social media, makes me hesitant to support your cause. In fact I jumped on buying more copies of Sean's releases because of the overly critical posts made by his critics. You don't see Iam8bit, Mondo or Data Discs or Black Screen Records doing any of that. They're perfectly aware of him too, they'd have to be at this point, but they don't do that. Because it's not good for business, and it actually hurts your cause, and causes criticism of the people posting it. Honestly if STS just came down here and said, "Hey, that pre-Kickstarter campaign email was not from us," or "Hey that Kickstarter Campaign email was a huge screw up, and our bad," I'd believe them, or forgive them, but to call somebody out for bad business, while having that black mark on the record is kind of hard for me to move past.
  6. This, whatever you think, this has damaged STS's reputation. The fact they sent everybody on his original mailing list (because he failed to use BCC on accident) an email "thanking them" for "Signing up" for their mailing list for their upcoming Kickstarter campaign was really, really awful. I am not sure if I still have the email, but I do remember thinking, "I never signed up for this..." and then about 2 hours later got an email from Sean stating his list had been "stolen" for this purpose. Whether STS sent out that email, or one of their buddies did, it really hurt their reputation from the get go.
  7. For a bootleg label he gets a ton of press. That's a bad thing, actually, for a couple of reasons. First. because he could get a C&D, shutting him down. Second because it could limit what he can legally license in the future if IP holders don't appreciate what he's done. Also it gives people who have a problem with him fuel for their fire. This article may just get Ship to Shore more fired up. Love him or hate him, these are bootlegs, and generally lots of notice is a bad thing for any bootlegger. Personally I love his work, but it's still not licensed, so I don't go posting it all over. I just hope he's able to get licensing and lawyers soon, because I want to see him keep releasing albums
  8. Ah, ok, bleep.com has these in stock for cheaper than Invada had them. https://bleep.com/release/61782-c418-minecraft-volume-alpha
  9. I'd love to. I'm just not 100 pounds into this. Or maybe I will one day. Shocking they sold three of them that quickly, not a good sign.
  10. Is there any way some of us who are industry press could get one? I actually am related to several medium-sized sites, and I'd kill for one. I am afraid I don't think Square gives a darn about me as is though.
  11. I assume this is the case actually, as in it's going to be in a press kit or a promotional item of some sort not available to the public. That's exactly what happened with the Bioshock 7" 45, I've been looking for one for years. There were two versions, actually, one that went in a press kit, and one that was part of a contest. Same record, different sleeves. But $200 for a 45, and $1,200 for the press kit which has the variant is just ridiculous. I assume I'll just never be owning the Life is Strange OST on vinyl at this point. Mostly because SquareEnix has regularly and continually shafted their North American fans. Let us know if you find anything out Walnut.
  12. Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. I thought about buying the PS4 version regardless for the soundtrack, like you, so they may get more money from me yet. I've got to think on it. But yeah, limited to 5? That doesn't even make sense. If this is a test press, or the only US release with a special sleeve/slipcase/etc. Sure, great, that's awesome, but why even bother to press it at all if they're going to release 5 copies? That's just insane, and it's crap on top of what I already said. It makes zero sense. Hopefully we'll find out about a Japanese release soon, and that this was a test press, because I really can't fathom they'd pay to have a lathe cut only 5 records, or even crazier that they'd have a press made only for 5 copies. SquareEnix has proved repeatedly that they're willing to alienate certain sections of their fans over and over (following Konami's lead in many ways), but overall they've also proved they're cheapskates, so it doesn't seem likely we won't see a wider release at some point, even if it is only in Japan with these being the only English only releases. That's my two cents anyway. I think you just have to order a physical copy, not just the digital download.
  13. I wonder if my having bought it on Steam qualifies me for entrance?
  14. I actually hate this idea. I'd love to own one, but never will unless I win, and if I did win it'd be something I never played for fear of damaging it. I get LE's are cool, but I prefer open editions. That's not even the, "oh he's just mad he won't get one," mentality either, it's just something I think is lame. Make a statue or some other item for a shelf as your prize, records and games are meant to be used. But that's just me, I guess.

  16. Man, I'm jealous of those Castlevania test presses. Very cool.
  17. Yup. Only a matter of time before it's locked.Edit: in my defense, my example is actually much more damaging monetarily, and potentially psychological, so it wasn't actually a good defense at all. Just me pointing out that I know I'm a douche, and I stand by that fact.
  18. Except that's a terrible comparison. Seriously, it's not the same at all. So here's a good comparison: It'd be much more like if I owned the patent for a car, and some guy starts making cars using my patent, but for much cheaper, and is taking business away from me. He's keeping it small, and maybe I'm not even making money from that division right now, but I could be, and I'm losing that money because of him. Money maybe I need, maybe I don't. Doesn't matter: I'm losing that potential revenue stream, and somebody else is gaining from it. Furthermore anybody who buys cars from that guy are getting a potentially inferior product, and aren't protected by consumer rights laws, which could potentially leave my company with bad reputation, though I did nothing wrong. If I go to the cops, they'll ask him to stop, but I'll potentially never be able to recoup the damages, and now I've got a product tainted by an outside source which ends up costing me money. Or it's like I'm a no name artist, and Target steals my design and makes millions, and I can do nothing about it because I can't afford the legal fees,so I just get screwed and my career ruined for being derivative, when it was my art, (true account that). That's what it's like. Saying it's like having my car stolen is as bad as those ridiculous Hollywood warnings before films. It's absolutely different, and bootlegging can be potentially more damaging depending on the scope it's being sold at, to be fair, and that's why it's prosecuted different in courts. So yeah, I stand by what I said.
  19. Well that's a bummer. How does it sound? I'm hesitant to throw the cash it costs at it any time soon, but I do want it. Also, how about some pictures of your guys' collections in here? I'm really curious as to some of the oddities that you all may have.
  20. That's exactly why I support him. There are a couple of companies, indie labels, that have singled him out as the biggest problem in the industry, but he's tried to get the licenses, and it's not like they're going to get them either. I don't see the big issue, personally, I mean, yeah, they're boots, and I wish they were licensed, but they weren't/aren't coming out otherwise, and he's a pretty cool guy. Just my two cents.
