MARK THIS DAY:
December 14, 2015 - the day egg finished her christmas shopping a record 11 DAYS before christmas!
A real hero!
I've never asked, but by chance is your name Ann?
-
Lol there's 5 on discogs
Wouldn't VC'ers want to help out someone they talk with, and who they know appreciated that music, though?
That was my opinion of it, at least.
-
added more stuff to my sale thread including some semi rare 7". As always Small talkers get a discount
Tragic Kingdom made me all nostalgic

ah i understand, i feel the same way about the silence of the lambs although i absolutely love the book. jurassic park is what reading is all about for me, just great story telling, and the same reason movies like JP and the goonies are my favourites. i agree movie hammond is much better, book hammond is a bastard.
Definitely get how you feel about the Silence of the Lambs, as well. Now that I think of it, Hammond got the book death that Dieter got in the movies. Definitely deserved it in the books.
Out of curiosity, why did you choose Into the Wild? McCandless was an interesting character, albeit naive to a fault, but for whatever reason didn't find the book all that compelling.

I understand that - I sometimes just keep the really beat up ones for sentimentality, honestly. The one that really bummed me out, though, was the 68' release of White Light/White Heat by VU. Someone had taken something sharp and carved into the record. Getting that home and taking it out to see it, I was furious haha

I'm jealous of your Cramps collection Dea, I almost bought Psychadelic Jungle at the last record convention but it was $30 (it was really clean)
I'm glad I was able to get them when I did, but a lot of my collection came from working at a radio station, so they have seen MUCH better days. One day the rest of my crew decided we were going to unload about 75% of the vinyl we had, and we were allowed to go in and take what we wanted. Being one of the few people working that summer, I ended up with ~400 records, half of which should really have been thrown out.
Luckily, they were some of the gems that rarely got played, so were left in decent condition.

Nadja - Queller
Celer - any
Listening now - really digging Nadja! Thank you

Good morning everyone!
Any good music recs for absurdly early mornings lacking snow?
-
in no particular order:
frankenstein - mary shelley
the bell jar - sylvia plath
i am legend - richard matheson
cash - johnny cash
just kids - patti smith
into the wild - jon krakauer
the great gatsby - f scott fitzgerald
animal farm - george orwell
carrie - stephen king
jurassic park - michael crichton
Not a bad list by any means. I was considering putting Jurassic Park, but then remembered that it was one of the few times where I loved the movie more, if only because seeing the dinosaurs come to life was complete magic. And Grant, Hammond, and the rest were far more likable.

All three
Don't sell yourself short.
To be fair, no self-respecting lady would consider a guy very charming if he was a shitty friend to someone he chooses to hang out with. And disrespecting someone else's relationship - or the budding of one - is extremely unattractive and shows how little relationships truly mean to that person.
Being hung doesn't matter if someone is so blind to the desires and intentions of others to miss the obvious; telltale sign he could in fact not be the best in that department.

Hey, thank you. These words helped.
Anytime. Everyone needs an outside perspective from time to time (even if I could be completely wrong)

Dikembe. Decent emo band, first EP is overhyped as balls.
CB was exciting and fun - Mediumship had a couple interesting songs, and 'donuts in a six speed' was a cool direction, but as a whole just wasn't a distinctive release to me
I don't feel so good probably cause I've only had beer since breakfast, and I'd rather starve than make small talk with the present company upstairs or put on pants
Drink more beer? It's practically like eating bread AND you'll get more comfortable with small talk
-
Mediumship > Chicago Bowls.
I'm going to continue to disagree with you because that's our 'classic shtick' at this point. And also because no.
-
That's such a tease.
Truly. Panic purchases are never the best, but found myself Chicago Bowls so the pill was a little easier to swallow.
Anyhoot, how are you lovelies tonight?

Got to visit a decent record store for the first time in months today, only to be dragged out after 10 minutes.
Absolutely heart wrenching

This is tough shit dude. I totally know the feeling. My last relationship was the same. We met in New Orleans 3 months before I moved to Portland. I left and was without her for 5 months before she said fuck it and moved up here. Then we broke up in August after 8 months of her not being able to find a steady job. Now we've been apart for 5 months and we are talking everyday again. She says she wants to move back to Portland come July. Yet, we are broken up. She will occasionally say she doesn't care if I'm with other girls. And I'm just like..no. I fucking care. Maybe I'm holding out for nothing. Maybe it turns into her coming back. Idk. But I flipped last night and asked her what the fuck we are currently doing. Got an "I don't know.." Shits weird.
I think it's good that you bit the bullet and asked her opinion of your situation, even if she hasn't figured it out yet. But (and this is just my personal opinion) it's concerning that she either isn't fully committed enough to getting back together with you to encourage a monogamous relationship, or confident in herself enough to know she'd be enough to satisfy you.
Regardless, hope you two make it work, because it sounds like you care an awful lot about the lady

Build a fort and throw snowballs at them...
Make snowmen a la Calvin and Hobbes. Should scare 'em off right quick.
And good morning y'all!

Putting off studying for finals, so about as I expected it. You?
Who studies during high school?
Just got back from doing a couple flights of vodka at a very Russian bar - I am happy as a clam!

Good evening hunky babes and babely hunks!
How is everyone's Saturday going?

sweet potato gnocchi sounds amazing, I used to get this great gnocchi in a gorgonzola alfredo back in California, Colorado has terrible food for the most part
It's incredibly easy to make, and freezing allows for saving a big batch!
I think it's a theme that the mid-country square states seem to have bad food; finding decent produce is a joke around these parts
-
I'm eating pasta with olive oil now. I always load the oil with red pepper flakes and garlic and saute it. So damn good.
Can't say I've ever tried that, but it sounds great!
I've sauteed homemade sweet potato gnocchi before with sage and brown butter, and that was pretty killer during the winter.

my boyfriend had to do that at his old job. he's an architect and his boss at that firm was a perfectionist and borderline OCD. they had to have every minute accounted for and billable.
he saved all the sheets and showed them to me once. it was unreal.
Every minute? That's atrocious! Glad it sounds like he got out of that stressful environment.
I essentially do the same, although my clients set a limit they think their projects are worth, and like clockwork, they underestimate every time. And then I have to explain to my boss why it's costing them more, or work 10+ hours a week unpaid just to catch up.
Gotta love the corporate life.
-
Not sure anyone else has ever had this misfortune, but having to log every 15 minutes of my work day on what projects I'm working on (and only being able to charge about 75% of the time it takes me) is redundant and in itself, a waste of time.
Lord, beer me strength.
-
Ah! I hope you guys are doing okay
Can't imagine how tough it can be going through panic attacks and seizures - very humbled!

i just had a guy I dated VERY briefly 9 months ago text me out of the blue telling me he misses me. How do you even respond to that?
This does not, an impressed woman, make.
Advice: Don't do this.
