  1. i figured 10 albums weren't enough for a week on a deserted island, let alone an extended stay. here's my next installment:

    andrew w.k. - i get wet

    can - tago mago

boards of canada - the campfire headphase

built to spill - perfect from now on

    daft punk - alive 2007

    four tet - rounds

kanye west - my beautiful dark twisted fantasy

the microphones - the glow, pt. 2

modest mouse - the lonesome crowded west

    t. rex - electric warrior

Tago Mago made me beyond excited the first time I heard it years back. Sharing that with the folks who were still moon-eyed over Pink Floyd was a real treat

  2. I have and kind of burned myself out on them!  Thanks for the suggestion though!  Chia seed pudding has been my go to lately.  Mix it up the night before in a mason jar, throw some toppings onto it in the morning and that's it.

I've made sloppy Joe's with TVP quite a few times, works really well.  I'm from a town of about 10,000 people and I struggle to find places to eat whenever I go back home.  The city is barely vegetarian friendly.  That's my biggest problem with going back.

The struggle is real! Any chance you've been able to find jackfruit? Think a video has been going around the internet lately about making "bbq pulled jackfruit" sandwiches, and could see that translating well for sloppy joe's as well.

I can barely find a kumquat, so I'm dead in the water on that recipe, but was definitely curious.

Breakfast/lunch option: Sliced apple sandwiches with nut butter + seeds/nuts/dried fruit is another quick thing to make at night and take along the next day for breakfast, and is really filling

  3. I'm bored with my current breakfast go-tos.  Anyone have any recommendations?  I'm looking for something I can make the night before (or preferably Sunday night and enough for the week) and just heat up in the morning.  I don't usually have enough time in the morning to really cook something.

This is really late, but have you tried making overnight oats? Don't have to take the time to cook in the morning, can customize to your tastes, and easily vegan :)

  4. does anyone have experience cooking with TVP?

my first attempt was a disaster.  It tasted fine once I covered it in buffalo and daiya but.......

I boiled with spices, let sit, and then mixed in flour and baked.  It was very floury and it did not hold together at all.

First time posting on this thread, but love the idea!

Been a vegetarian for about 12 years now; tried vegan, but found it a bit difficult to find honest food in a town of 2,000.

Anyway, TVP cooks up nice in chili - it provides a heartier meal and soaks up the flavors in it well!

  5. OPERATION LAST MINUTE

I'm gonna need some help monetarily for a gift. DOUBLE D dropped out due to money problems (i wish he could have told me sooner than now).. Unfortunately, i don't have the means to get a gift and send quickly (60 hour work weeks and no vehicle leaves very little time to do anything).. so if someone's down for going and grabbing a gift, maybe several can pitch in and get it and send off asap..

Who's down? I'll throw in $$$ that.s not the problem.

As I came late to participate, I'd be willing to put together the full package for whoever the recipient is and get it out in time for Christmas! Would really like to contribute to bring some goodness to a fellow VC'er :)

  6. Against Me!  - they played the same night Mad Caddies played in CT and I decided to stay at home and now I regret that I didn't see either band.

    La Dispute. ugh

I had the chance to see La Dispute a handful of times, but by far their best show I've seen was in their hometown of Grand Rapids - so much emotion tied to it, and they announced that night that Kevin would be leaving the band.

You gotta see them the next chance you have - definitely won't regret it!

For bands I'd love to see, probably Prince, Whirr, Tigers Jaw, or The Milk Carton Kids
