  1. I'd love to see She & Him live. I saw they have 2 NYC shows coming up, but they both already sold out. Plus NYC is a decent drive for me.
  2. Hey, Just releasized that pre-orders are up on Merge Records for She & Him - Volume 2, schedualed for 3/23/10. If you preoder from them you get a free poster, plus they have free shipping! They also put out a new 7in "In The Sun." You can here the song on there website. It's pretty good. http://www.mergerecords.com/ http://www.sheandhim.com/sheandhim.php
  3. Haha it's true. Jordan picked me up from the hospital. Solid guy right here!
  4. Haha I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to be a "fuck you" in any way. I was just trying to let "itsajackie" know that I'm very happy with my life, and could care less what people on the internet think of me. And that he should consider doing the same. Man you really are quit the asshole. Calling me liar as if you know the story. I'll give you the scoop, but only because I don't have any homework I have to do tonight. So the day after I was hit, I'm thinking about the ambulance ride, hospital bills, cost of a new bike. If any of you have ever been in that situation its overwhelming. So I turned to the only lawyer I knew, my girlfriends professor. My being a 21 year old kid who had never stepped foot in a court room before, the lawyer explained to me everything you just did. He told me what was going to happen, and how he was going to be representing me and we would be filing both criminal and civil cases. And so on and so on. I may be an asshole, and I may have a poor taste in music, but I'm not a liar!
  5. Holy shit this thread got out of hand.... First off I'd like to clear up a few things. 1.) I have no affiliation with "itsajackie" 2.) I'm probably the farthest thing from an "ambulance chaser". To be honest I'm fucking terrified of doctors. My previous statement "Court, lawyers, court, lawyers, more lawyers lawyers lawyers" had nothing to do with money. My girlfriend's law professor (ex dean of the court in downtown Buffalo) represented me, almost free of charge. Either he's just solid dude, or he has a thing for my girlfriend. Probably more so number 2. My goal in getting a lawyer was not to get money, it was to put the crazy guy who hit me with his car, got out, looked me in the eyes and said "I'm going to kill you" and chased me down the road, behind bars. The first thing I told my lawyer was I don't want a dime, I'll be happy if this guy goes to jail. The lawyer ended up getting me 3,000 dollars from that guys insurance company, which was awesome, but was my intention. It's not a fun process at all. I actually have court on Wednesday because of it, and I'm loosing sleep thinking about how I have to see that crazy fucker again. 3.) And last some advice for "itsajackie". Do yourself a favor and stop posting in this thread. You're making an asshole of yourself. You don't need to explain yourself to anybody. If by being in a band you hope to "Get 5,000 plays a day" and sell how ever many cds it was, that's what your doing! And it makes you happy! So fuck them! I made this thread in hopes to get feedback from other record label owners. And I got both positive and negative feedback from them, exactly what I wanted. A handful of people are following me on twitter, and decent amount added my page on mypsace. I even had a few people PM asking me to check out their bands demo and keep them in consideration. The bottom line is, I'm 21 years old. I have a decent job, a dog, and a awesome girlfriend that I get to come home to everyday. And I'm about to start a record label and take a shot at one of my dreams. None of this message board shit really matters. Let those 30 year old slugs smite my Karma all they want. It doesn't really matter. You telling them to "Fuck off" every post is only feeding the fire. You're exciting them. Just stop posting and let this thread die out. Hopefully one of the MODs will block this thread soon. Goodnight. -Kyle
  6. That's not what I said at all. I personally can't financially afford it at this point. I've been to a cheap studio, to sing gangs, that was about $100 a day. To put out a split with 4-6 songs on it, you could be looking at costs anywhere from $300-$600 in recording time. That's a decent amount to add to the cost on a run of 500 records for a small band that might have trouble selling all 500. Yes I've created all the modern networking profiles (myspace/twitter/facebook). Is that bad? I'm definitely going to be out more then 3 grand after the release of my first record. Almost everyone who starts a business looses money in the beginning. I'm not expecting to make any money. At all....ever. I'm hoping to break even, so I can continue to put out more records. If I do make money great, but I'm not quitting my day job. Like I said earlier in the post, I've been a promoter in my town for about 2 years. I got a decent lump of money and thought it would be fun to give this a shot. I want to help some of my friends bands I've worked with promoting and put there stuff out on vinyl. Man you guys are rough. Okay so maybe I made this post a little early, but saying you're glad I got hit by a car.....jeez. There's a handful of people who run DIY labels on here. Thought maybe a few of them would be interested. No, I don't have anything in the web store yet, I'm in the first steps, I just created the website with all the essentials. I'm sorry to everyone who got butt sore for me posting this. I'll come back in a few weeks when everything is finalized and those who are interested in the release (probably not a ton, hopefully a few), see you then! -Kyle
  7. Hey guys. Thank you for all the complements on the website and logo. They were both designed by Joe Piehler from Positive Approach. Takes forever to get shit done, but does great work at an affordable price. Means well, good dude. Positive Approach Custom Screen Printing 125 Elmwood Avenue Buffalo, NY 14201 www.positiveapproachpress.com As far as the story goes. It's sooo fucked up. Long story short. I was riding my bike on the side of the road. That pissed off some some 50 year old man. He found it necessary to yell at me. I found it necessary to spit on him. I went on the side walk. He went on the side walk. He hit me. Ruined my bike. Got out chased me. Said hes going to kill me. I went to the hospital, He went home with out getting in any trouble. Court, lawyers, court, lawyers, more lawyers lawyers lawyers. I got 3,000 dollars. He still went home with out any trouble. I used that money as start up costs for something I've always thought about doing. That's the beginning of BRR. End of story. As far as twitter goes. I have no idea how that works. I need to get with the times I suppose. Not to mention a lot of pop punk bands (stuff I hope to be releasing) has a younger fan base that is all over twitter. I have a release and a band, I just can't say anything until the contract is finalized and signed. I'm sure they just have a lawyer help them set up a properly worded contract so there's no loop holes in it. I made this post on here because I know a lot of the people that read this stuff are probably people just like me who would be interested. I'm excited! I live with some dudes in a hard working touring pop punk band. They've been in pretty successful previous bands. I'd be honored to release a split 7in or something for them. The problem with that is trying to get 2 touring bands for 2 different cities into the studio to record some new stuff. Not to mention recording time isn't cheap. If I pay for that, it effects the cost of the record. And nobody want's to pay more then $5 for a 7in. PS: I had a +3 Karma when I started this thread. I'm down to -1. What's with all the hate?
  8. I've been a promoter in Buffalo, NY for around 2 years now. I've worked with bands such as Fireworks, The Wonder Years, This Time Next Year, Living With Lions, and tons more. Over the summer I was hit by a car on my bike. I got a 3 thousand dollar settlement check. I used the funds to start an independent record label called Broken Rim Records. My goal is to help hardworking bands release their albums on vinyl. I'm going to be working with bands similar to the genre of bands that I've booked. I'm in the process of buying the rights to my first release. The label that owns the rights to the music is working with their lawyers in the process of developing the contract. I can't say too much until all that's finalized, but that shouldn't be very long. I'm hoping to have my first release out by the end of the summer. In the meantime, if you're interested, check out the website, myspace, facebook, and twitter. Feel free to advise, comment, or criticize. Thanks guys. -Kyle Website: http://brokenrimrecords.com/ Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/brokenrimrecords Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Broken-Rim-Records/265717558231?ref=search&sid=294100072.1727493294..1 Twitter: http://twitter.com/BrokenRimRecord
  9. I would have never thought to check there. I found some great boxes at the Joann Fabrics by my house. Normally $3.99 each, on sale for $2.39. I picked up 3. Thanks for the advice! +1
  10. This message has been moved to Vinyl Collective Message Board by jhulud.
  11. This shitty box isn't going to cut it anymore (not to mention I don't think I could fit another 7in in there). I've looked around for some crates, but can't seem to find one that fits them well. Advice?
  12. I was looking for the No Idea calculator but I couldn't find it. Thank you! +1
  13. Hey guys, I have some stuff on ebay and someone from the UK asked me how much it would be to ship to them. What's an estimate on how much to tell him. They are both gate fold 180 gram lps.
  14. Yeah it did! Its a small garage with a door. Put three bucks in from the outside to open the door, 2 from the inside. A total of $5 for unlimited parking. Seemed a little shady, but I guess that's what you get for 5 bucks.
  15. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice in this thread. My trip was a lot of fun. Attack In Black played really well. I went to: Sneaky Dees and got the Vegan Nachos. Biggest plate of nachos I've ever eaten. Rotate This The Philadelphia Sound (V/A with Paint It Black) - $4 used Attack In Black - Marriage $17 Girl Talk - Night Ripper - $26 The War Of The Worlds - $6 used Hits + Misses nothing. sort of a let down. Sonic Boom Nice stuff, but over priced on their used vinyl CocoRosie - The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn - $15 used Thanks a lot guys.
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270533623822 Blink-182 - Dude Ranch - Mightier Than Sword Records - 1st Press - Half Brown/Half Orange - /500 Blink-182 - Enema of the State - Mightier Than Sword Records - 2nd Press - Half White/Half Blue - /500 I know the Dude Ranch's went pretty quick. If anyone missed it, I have them up on ebay with starting bid at cost of records. EDIT: Added 2 different color variants of the records. Dropped the Buy It Now price quite a bit. Will Ship over seas. -Kyle
  17. Looking to order one of the 160 on Transparent Yellow vinyl. A little confused on what web store and when this will be available?
  18. I know, I know. I'm broke, and I'm slowly selling my things 1 by 1. I'm sorry. Haha yeah I like the case too. I've seen NHL go for as low as $5! And Bioshock from $10-$15. Would rather cut out the ebay charges and buy them off someone here who has kept them in good condition. Figured with NHL 10 and Bioshock 2 coming out I could get both for a decent price. Anyone have either or these games?
  19. Watching a few of these on ebay right now. Seen them go for pretty cheap, but I'd rather buy them from someone off here. PM if you have either game and willing to let it go for cheap.
  20. I wish Hot Topic had a system where you could check what inventory is at what store online. I think Best Buy has something like this. The people on the phone always seem so aggravated when I call asking about a list of records.
  21. still less then what the kung fu version goes for. plus this one probably looks a lot nicer.
  22. I doubt that you'll be able to order Ataris and Brand New together. I just realized they're coming out on his different labels.
  23. Anybody have this they'd be willing to share with me The Wonder Years - Leavenhouse 11:30
  24. Thanks so much! I just map quested directions. Hopefully I can find it alright. I can't wait for my trip!
