    The sounds is really faint, but it sounds almost like its coming right out of the turntable, not out of the speakers at all. I can get sound out of the speakers at a higher volume if I plug into the main input in the back of the receiver, but then the volume control doesn't work. I've tried the other inputs and no sound out of those either, same as with the phono input.

    That's what I thought but I can't seem to get any sound when hooking the turntable up to the phono inputs.

    I have a Stanton T92 and a Harmon Kardon 3490 receiver, but can't get sound through the phono inputs. Is this because I need a phono preamp? Having a little trouble here. Thanks!
