  1. Still looking for "Tested" 2xLP, "The New America" European pressing w/ different sleeve and "Into The Unknown" bootleg with the blue sleeve. Might start collecting the various coloured re-issues Epitaph put out recently, but maybe not.
  2. It was either that or "FAO : Virgil" - seems like the only two things that gets anyones attention around here.
  3. In stock over at http://www.thenewestindustry.com now. The band features Joel Perdue, ex-drummer for BLACK COUGAR SHOCK UNIT and drummer for OFF WITH THEIR HEADS on their recent US tour (when they played with BAD RELIGION in Hollywood, etc)... This is a split release between Newest Industry and the band's own label Anything But Radio, and I've got less than 40 copies, so be quick! Also, for anyone that's interested, the MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED album lands a week Monday. It's fucking awesome. You can hear them over on the Newest Industry website, as well as download the new FOUR LETTER WORD EP for free.
  4. Transparent as fuck. And I'm not talking about the vinyl.
  5. I rarely order from Interpunk anymore. They're good folks and always totally organised, but they refuse to put "gift" on the customs forms so I always get RAPED in the face by customs, not to mention their postage rates are INSANE to the UK. Glad more distro's are starting up over here to be honest, paying more for postage than for the actual record itself is a whole world of crazy. I would probably all stop worrying about this anyway, North and South Korea are about to start a nuclear war and we're all going to die. Looks like Virgo gets away with his crimes after all!
  6. Skutch, vinyl lands in a week and a half (Mon, 7th June) - only been put back by one week, not bad by vinyl pressing standards! Test pressings sounded ace, can't wait for the final version.
  7. Well the first 7", I had like 3 months ago or something. The second, I already bulk ordered for me and Terry to try and save some money on postage. If I get a refund I'll lose money on the Paypal fee anyway, so it's just not worth the hassle. Will be less ready to spend 20 bucks when number 3 comes out though. Looking forward to the album more than anything!
  8. I had an absolute nightmare of a time with Virgin Dickheadson years ago, have never ordered from VC, and never will. Sorry to boycott the thread, but regarding the guy from the UK that just posted, a friend of mine here in Cardiff just started a really cool little mailorder. It might be right up your street : http://brassneckrecords.bigcartel.com/
  9. FOR FUCKS SAKE. Already paid 10 dollars plus 12 or so shipping (to the UK) for the first fucking 7" (which was out ages ago), and just recently paid 10 dollars plus shipping for the second 7". Do I get a partial refund now? I only paid it because they're one of my favourite bands and the way it was spun, I thought the super limited pressing would be sold out in like a week or something. This whole vinyl panic frenzy is really starting to wear thin with me, to be honest.
  10. Hey Peanut, thanks for checking the MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED stuff out! The one thing I'm finding insanely difficult with running the label in 2010 is to get people to just even LISTEN. With this band, I think they're so amazingly good, once people do listen they seem to realise how ace they are. But right now the band is not particularly active, and is not a "name" band on a "name" label so it's really a hard slog... I think the album is absolutely fantastic though - and hey, if you do order it you'll get the download code in an email same day, so you're not waiting to hear the record. Cheers!
  11. http://www.thenewestindustry.com 1. FOUR LETTER WORD has a brand new, TOTALLY FREE, four track EP available to download right now from the Newest Industry website. It's entitled "An Invitiation To a Hanging" and has been recorded and released for free just in time for the 2010 UK election. There's no catch, just head on over to the Newest Industry website and download either the individual MP3's and artwork, or as one ZIP file. Easy job! 2. Newest Industry recently had an incredible stay of execution by hooking up with an amazing band from Los Angeles called MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED. The band's debut album "Museum of Mistakes" is already available on Newest Industry through iTunes (see link on the Newest Industry website shop or just search through your iTunes) and the very limited edition vinyl (limited to 300 copies only, there will be no CD release) is at the pressing plant now and is currently available for pre-order on the Newest Industry website. All pre-orders will be entered into a draw to win a TEST PRESSING, and every order also comes with a DOWNLOAD CODE that includes 2 extra tracks not on the album. We're currently emailing out the download codes to anyone that orders, so that you're not waiting another month or so before you can hear the record! One cool thing to note is that the record is the FIRST vinyl LP release for Newest Industry, which surely makes it a collectors item right off the bat! Rather than making this the world's biggest post, how about I just let you know that the band features guys who were in THE ACTUAL and write some of the catchiest political punk rock you've ever heard... and that you can hear three tracks from them, and read all about the band and the record on the Newest Industry website? That's all you really need to know for now! http://www.thenewestindustry.com
  12. Would love to see them live. Hopefully the Ke$ha related hiatus is not "indefinite". Plus I'd love to hear more music from them, Max is an incredible song writer and has a lot to say.
  13. This is very true, I just wasn't sure how that'd go down with the DIY punk rock types! And I didn't want to be seen to be exploiting Max's recent success. People can be lame sometimes... plus, we probably won't be allowed a review in Maximum Rock'n'Roll. Hah! Amazing record though, maybe the punks will check it out - out of curiosity - and realise they're a GREAT band? So yeah, features guitarist for Ke$ha, most recently seen on Saturday Night Live in a space helmet.
  14. Newest Industry is putting out the debut album from Los Angeles political punk band MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED. The band includes ex-members of THE ACTUAL and plays left of centre, intelligent political punk rock with nods to everyone from JAWBREAKER to TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS... You can hear 3 newly mastered tracks from the album on the NEWEST INDUSTRY WEBSITE : http://www.thenewestindustry.com The album is coming out on vinyl and via iTunes only. The vinyl is limited to 300 copies and will come with a download code supplied by the awesome DownloadMyVinyl.com. All pre-orders will also be entered into a draw to win a test pressing. There's more information on the record here : http://www.thenewestindustry.com/releases.html And if you want to buy it from iTunes instead here's the link for that : http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/museum-of-mistakes/id366317888 This is the first vinyl LP for Newest Industry so I am super excited about getting this out. Please check out the band if you have the time. Thanks, Dave!
  15. Would definitely love that first record on vinyl, Si. I like the new one a lot, but the first one has some serious anthems on it (that I was hoping for in Newport, alas they didn't make an appearance!)... great album though. As for Snuffy Smile, I have dealt with Yoichi and I personally found it a bit weird. I licensed the first I EXCUSE album, repackaged it, and sent the band 200 copies, which was the deal. Probably sold a couple of hundred, stuck with tons (like most of my releases!), lost money... Apparently Yoichi told Off With Their Heads I was some evil rip off bastard, never to be trusted. Fucking freak. I tried to email him but he blocked my email address. I just don't have time in my life for nut cases, so just kind of forgot about it.
  16. They had a 7" out on my label in 2003 which I sold out of a while back, however, No Idea is returning about 5 copies to me this week (and they might still have some left after that - worth checking their site)... it was a split 7" with UK band BEDFORD FALLS, limited to 500 copies. I also put out the "Sweet Fuck All" EP, both will be combined as a vinyl album release next year sometime. The CD Suburban Home are selling is an unauthorised bootleg.
  17. The Enablers "Sweet Fuck All + 2" ultra limited vinyl LP will be out out sometime next year on Newest Industry.
  18. are you fucking drunk? you agreed to a stipulation that "the deal lasts as long as our failing label does". wasnt anyone suspicious about the complete lack of fine print other than THAT? 6 months down the line when shit is like a forgotten mad max desert wasteland here, you think youre getting a refund for the 90 records you didnt get? fuck no, they used your money to pay a fraction of what they owed, its gone, but they still aint getting any records pressed. labels dead, deal is over, you agreed to it. if you like vinyl so much, spend $1000 to press a record. then at least you KNOW youll actually get a few hundred records. Boris makes an essential point here, and one that people really need to think about if they intend on spending 1,000 dollars on this. What if VC / SH is gone in 6 months? From what I'm hearing, this is not totally unfeasable. A friend here in the UK pointed out this deal is kind of like Scientology - the golden carrot of 100 records per three year period "forever" is like the secret OT3 level - once you're in you want it soooo bad (because everyone else is telling you it's the best thing ever) that you front the massive amount of cash, but are inevitably left let down and suicidal when you realise you've been duped and the fuckers have run off with your money. I'm interested to see how things pan out over the next few months for Virgil's New World Order grand plan here, especially as I have personally been on the receiving end of his "business practices" a few years ago.
  19. You guys on here may know FOUR LETTER WORD from their split 7" with OFF WITH THEIR HEADS. FOUR LETTER WORD had two albums and a 7" on BYO in the 90's and, more recently, an album on Newest Industry and another 7" on Newest Industry / No Idea / Damaged Records... they've got quite a bit of history and are a GREAT UK band. Anyway, I'm putting out the new album as a split release with a cool UK label called Boss Tuneage. There's 3 tracks from the album on my page that you can check out now : http://www.thenewestindustry.com You can also pre-order it there (when I say pre-order, it's actually arriving in 10 days and is already being pressed and shit) as part of a CRAZY deal where you will also get their last 7" AND 3 Newest Industry albums of your choice for FREE. So in the UK that's £8.00 ppd for 4 albums and a 7"... £9.00 for Europe... £10.00 for the US/ Rest of World... this deal won't last forever, but it will actually help ME out as I need to clear some space in the office (and obviously want to sell my new release, the first release on Newest Industry in almost exactly 2 years!) Thanks for reading, Dave! TRACK LISTING : 01. City of The Blind 02. 20,000 Leagues Beneath The Scene 03. The Claw 04. Bargain Bin of History 05. Breakthrough Song 06. Vacant Lot 07. Kid Against The Wall 08. A Chink In The Armour 09. Unfinished Symphonies 10. Street Where I Grew Up
