I imagine those cases scratch easily.
Only if you have skills.

The receiver in question is a Pioneer SX-434. Not truly world-smashing, but a nice little receiver. I've got a BIC 960 hooked up to it and some Bose SA-300 speakers. It's my little system in my basement where I'm working on restoring a couple of things, so I use it as my test equipment as well.

I don't read those posts, but you're right, I probably should have started somewhere else; this is just where I was at the time and it occurred to me to post. I don't post here often, to be sure.
Anyway, no Touche Amore records? We shall be friends.
Apparently I hit a chord with my vagueness...I don't need a pre-amp, because my receiver smashes your world.
-
Got continuity, still nothing. But thanks for the suggestions, you guys are beyond amazing. Truly. Can I borrow your Touche Amore records for when I do get this running? Ignorant cunts. It's my fault you don't know what "restore" means?

ajxd, while you're fucking yourself, I'd like to say thanks to bearchuck for actually contributing. I probably should have posted first at audiokarma or vinylengine, as those people are very helpful and friendly. I lose myself too often and forget about the elite "audiophile" douche cocks that post here.
By restoring, I mean I've taken a table that did NOTHING (plugged in and motor hummed, that's it), and now everything works and functions (speed changes, size variations, auto functions, etc.) except I have no sound. The wiring is good, I've cleaned all my connections, everything *appears* to be in working order, but this is where I am. I've done the easy, common sense stuff, all except checking continuity from the contact points on the cartridge/headshell on to the RCA jacks - I'll do that next.
But, hey - what do I know? I've got less than 100 posts, right?

I'm in the process of restoring a Dual 1209 and I've got everything working as it should, except when I hook it up to my reciever, I get absolutely no sound. I don't have a pre-amp but shouldn't need one, I've never ran one between any of my other tables. If anyone has any advice and/or experience with these tt's, I would greatly appreciate any advice you may have! Thanks.

Aside from what's already been listed, Traditional - William Elliott Whitmore. Non-Traditional - Tin Horn Prayer.

Yea it left from NC a couple days ago, but comming to seattle via media mail will take till the end of the week im sure. What was the free "promo"?
I didn't say in my earlier post because I didn't want to "ruin" the surprise, but it's just 3 buttons.
-
Wordd im waiting on my interpunk vinyl order too. But it said that it was shipping with a free gaslight promo, so im hoping its worth my wait.
I got my interpunk order today, maybe you will, too! You should be able to track your order from interpunk to see where it is.

And the sound?
I picked up 101 Proof, only listened to the first record so far. Sounds great when the music starts, but got a lot of surface noise on the lead in/out.

Euro I think is already sold out. Google banquet records or green hell.

Im a little late on buying this. Is blue the only color besides the standard black? Euro color? Also, does anyone still have the blue in stock for sure? I should have bought this earlier but i never did.
From gaslightanthem.org, which stays updated on vinyl pressing information pretty well, it looks like 500 on black for Euro (and the 7" with the songs from the deluxe edition CD is also pressed at 500). Blue will be in stock FOREVER...pressing of 10,000 means it'll be readily available for a long time.

I picked up a Montgomery Wards suit case turntable recently (Model JWR-967A, from 1964), it'll be fun if I can get it working - I want to put it in my classroom. The table turns, everything has been cleaned and lubed, but here's my problem:
When I turn it "ON" the table spins, the tone arm raises, moves to the record, lowers and plays, but only for a few seconds, then returns to the rest position. The cycle begins again, and repeats, and repeats, so on...
I've tried aligning the main gear in a few different directions, but to no avail. If you have any experience with these types of tables, please help!

According to interpunk, this'll be available in the US on July 10.

This thread seriously seems like a place where people have come to show how smart they are and how great they can brag about their chemical knowledge. I suppose it's like that with any hobby, but dammit.
On topic, I have a spin clean yellow thing, and it works great; I use micro-fiber cloths to dry and a mix of alcohol/dish soap/distilled water for really dirty records. It works great for me. I've also got an anti-static brush I use after and before playing records.
In other news, shit's whack.

I'm not afraid to punch a grown man in the dick, I know that much.

This info literally just went out from the label.
I'll be ordering some of these for HT.
Is it possible it'll be available in Hot Topic stores tomorrow?

I love Valient Thorr!!
I don't listen to much metal so I don't know if they're under-appreciated, but definitely a fun band.

My mom bought me 2 records last weekend at a Goodwill, an Elvis Aloha from Hawaii and a Who record. Not so much.
Which Who record was it?
It's Hard. I'll listen to it eventually, but I'm not that huge of a Who fan.

I bought these last summer off amazon, I guess they were imports? They're the "Back to Black" re-issues, didn't know anything else about them. Just that I wanted them. Nice that they're getting a proper release in the US, I really like both of these records.

Cock Sparrer? Horrible name. I have been a fan for a long time, but do not try to turn anybody onto them because 1) if they don't already know, fuck them, and 2) it's kind of awkward to suggest.

Dude, they could do a die-cut tribal tattoo shaped special edition. Even have sweet temporary tribal tats as a limited bonus. 1999, bitch!
