  1. Some great suggestions here. Maui was probably the best vacation I ever had. It's gorgeous and it's nice being able explore the island and feel safe doing so.

Definitely do Mt Haleakala. I'd also recommend doing it early in the vacation as your body is still adjusting to the time change - because you need to wake up reallllllllly early to get there. As others said, dress warm, and I can't emphasize that enough. My wife foolishly thought she'd be comfortable in a light sweatshirt and she was freezing. Also, another beautiful thing about that mountain is how clear the stars and sky are when you're at the top - not something I'm used to in Jersey.

The Road to Hana was also incredible. Pack food for the day and start early to avoid the traffic. I'd also recommend even bringing a change of clothes for the trip; it can get uncomfortable walking around in wet clothes the entire day.

Also, while staying in Lahaina, there's some pretty good snorkeling in front of the Sheraton hotel. That's where I stayed, and at least when I was there, I saw a sea turtle nearly every day.

    I'm so jealous...

    Thanks brother!

Just found out today that there is a hurricane at sea and it MAY hit Hawaii. Hoping not!

Really looking forward to our trip. We got an amazing deal on airfare due to having a friend who works at an airline. I'm talking DIRTY cheap. Too good to pass up.

Still no real plans, other than the comedy show noted above. Planning on exploring as much as we can. Since we're staying in Hana for 2 nights, it'll be some awesome downtime after spending 3 night in Lahaina.

  2. For the beach I would go to Kihei or anywhere along the left side of the stretch of highway South of Lahaina. Also Paia is a cool little town. Have fun, I love this island!

We plan on spending our first day in Paia I think. And we'll be spending a lot of time on the left stretch!

  3. Stop at Costco when you are near the airport. Cheap (for us Canadians) booze and snacks! If you like running, a jog along the boardwalk in Kaanapil Beach (5k end to end) is a must in the morning.

That's the plan, and I might just do that run. Early enough so my soul doesn't go up in flames once the sun comes out.

  4. Bring gloves and a jacket for the sunrise on Mt Haleakala. It is freaking cold up there. We did that the first morning we were there. The night we arrived We crashed at 7pm their time after a full day of travel and wewe up at 3am to hit the sunrise. Most beautiful damn thing. There's an awesome breakfast place on the way back down from the mountain, but I can't remember the name.

Definitely do the road to Hana. We also did a really cool zip line thing. And a horseback ride in the mountains. Skip the snorkeling at the crater. We didn't do it, but everyone we talked to said it was the worst. There were far more sea turtles at the beach. Eels too.

    Where are you staying?

We're staying in Lahaina, Kula and Hana. We're also staying near the airport for a night since our flight gets in so late.

We were thinking about a luau but what you said seals the deal. It would work out to over $250 Canadian for the 2 of us. She's vegetarian and I only eat fish, and my wife doesn't even drink. We'll take that money and do a bunch of other stuff.

  5. Wife and I went last year and we mostly just beach bummed it and drank Mai tais. My main goal was to see a sea turtle and I did!

If you want fins/mask/snorkel just buy them. It's cheaper than renting them. Buy at a Safeway or something though.

    Thanks for the tip. noted!!

    go check out a volcano.

edit: i also think that seeing a sea turtle would be awesome.

We're actually hoping to trek up the volcano for the sunrise.

    get laid!

    Well d'uh!

My friend lives here. Hes a jerk because of it. I was in maui like 15 years ago and cant offer much on what to do. Seeing a sea turtle is a must or the trip is ruined.

    Thats all i got.

We're going to head to the turtle beach for a day. Can't wait!

    Where are you staying?

Go for breakfast at The Gazebo.

We're staying at a few different places. Lahaina for 3 night, Kula for 2 nights and Hana for 2. We're also staying near the airport the first night since the flight arrives so late. I'll check out the Gazebo fo sho!

    TURTLES !!!!!!

     Awwwwwwwwwwwww yeah

Have fun man! That's an awesome trip.

Thanks Hunter! Hope all is well, brother!

Even though I've seen this before, it still made me spit tea onto my desk, so thanks for that.

  6. Yo guys. Haven't been on the boards/buying vinyl for a bit.

My wife and I are heading to Maui from Aug 2-10. Looking for any must do's while we're there.

We eat mainly vegetarian (iI eat fish, so I'm stoked), so any recommendations on places to eat would be awesome as well.

    Thanks!

  7. not a ton of shows on my summer schedule...

Strung Out / Red City Radio next saturday

Alkaline trio - past lives tour (day 3) the following weekend

    Counterpunch in july

    Get up kids in august

I saw Strung Out last week and was honestly disappointed. They seemed super sloppy playing the new songs and Jason couldn't seem to sing them, either. I can say that I was so disappointed that after seeing them time after time, last week was probably the last. That being said, I hope if was just an off night.

  8. And damn that's impressive, dude. Hopefully you get that flexi soon. But you're missing that one copy of The One 7", aren't you? ; )

Tracked down a copy of the Flexi because of this thread! Woo hoo

And yes, I do need The One 7", thanks for the reminder. I need that Westlife/Foos split, too. Forgot about that one as well!

  9. Hey dude! I spent a few years collecting Foos singles, and it's no easy task! I'm only missing the Flexi now...just waiting until it comes down in price.

Here is some food for thought: some of these 7's have 2 versions.

Walking After You / My Hero: Both have a jukebox single (plain white sleeve, large spindle hole) and a regular release (stamped Made in England). The English version is on red wax. The non-jukebox version of Walking After You is an X Files version and features Ween on the b side.

There is 2 versions of the Best Of You single. The US version has FFL as the b side and the UK one has Spill.

There is 2 versions of the All My Life 7" as well. The US version has Danny Says as the b side and the UK copy has Sister Europe.

The UK Versions of Times Like These and Low are numbered on the front.

The Exhausted promo is actually a 12".

Not sure if you need it, by Medium Rare isn't listed on your list. If you want any pictures of anything, just let me know.
