  1. Chambers is more of a small bites/happy hour spot than a romantic dinner spot. Just an FYI, you might still enjoy it but I wouldn't put it in the special date category.

My absolute favorite restaurants in SF are Frances, State Bird Provision and Rich Table. Octavia is Frances' sister restaurant and also quite good, as is the Progress which is State Bird's sister restaurant. All of these are tough tables to get but thought I'd throw them out there.

Some other places you might enjoy and worth looking into: Zuni Cafe, SPQR, Cotogna, Nopa.

Eater SF does a good job keeping track of the SF restaurant scene, here are a couple of links which might help:

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the city...I've lived here most of my life and spend the majority of my income on going out to eat and drink!

That is good to know about Chambers. I found an article on top "date night" restaurants in SF and that was at the top of the list. I'll cross that one off and look into your other suggestions.

  2. Congrats Adam. As goofy as it sounds I've always had great luck with Anthony Bourdains show suggestions.

    Thanks very much.

I'll look into his recommendations. I have narrowed it down to a few spots, made reservations for each... and will cancel those once I make a final choice.

I'm looking at Foreign Cinema, Chambers, and now looking at The Slanted Door. We will also be there a few nights so we may end up at a few of those on the list. I just want to try and pick a nice romantic (without being stuffy) spot for our Just Married dinner.

  3. I'm getting married in SF in October and want to go out to a nice dinner that evening. I'm not worried about price... although not looking to spend $600 on dinner either.

Looking for something hip and trendy. Someplace we can dress up for, but not stuffy. American, French or Japanese preferred, but open to other suggestions if it fits the bill.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures. They're the "fake" band that plays during the concert scene in Rob Zombie's Halloween pt II. Really fun Halloween album from start to finish. I'd add the whole thing to my playlist, but if you just want a couple of tracks, Transylvania Terror Train, HonkeyTonk Halloween and Redneck Vixen from Outerspace.

I'd also recommend anything from The Ghastly Ones. It's spooky halloween themed surf music. Perfect party backdrop music.

    Anything by The Cramps

Anything by The Groovie Ghoulies (Re-Animation Festival is my favorite album though)

    For oldies but goodies:

    Monster Mash (of course)
    The Crusher -
Night of the Werewolf - lee krisofferson
    Rockin' Zombie - the crewnecks

The Time Warp - Rocky Horror soundtrack

Science Fiction Double Feature (either from Rocky Horror or the Me First cover)

Devil in a Blue Dress - Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels

Werewolf of London - Warren Zevon

Doin' The Zombie - Chubby Checker

    Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus

out of limits - the marketts
