  1. I'll be in Wenzhou, which is in Zhejiang province just a ways south of Shanghai. And I'll be teaching in a BC-run school so I'll be teaching the same curriculum I would teach in a high school here.

    -dont step in the streets.

Do you mean this in a "watch out for crazy traffic" way? I'm prepared, I think. I went to Taiwan and it was basically the same. Definitely won't be driving. I get a shuttle to and from work and everywhere else I will probably taxi.

I think it will be a good time. But no hockey on TV, no UFC on PPV, and no Alternative Press on the racks. It's going to be tough...

  2. On Saturday I depart for 10 months in the People's Republic.

If anybody here has been and wants to share any stories or advice, post here or PM me.

I'm pretty excited, a little nervous, and already mourning a year with no vinyl, no concerts, and all-around isolation from the music scene.

I'm counting on you folks to help keep me in the loop.

  3. I saw it last weekend. It was quite good. Visually very impressive and I felt it gave great insight into what it's like to be involved in the Iraq war in it's current state. I also like that it felt very "real" and didn't follow a typical story arc. Almost more like a documentary.

  4. Pet peeve rant:

I don't understand why being an ex- pro wrestler is grounds for disliking Lesnar. It's just another career. It shouldn't matter if fighters are ex- cops, or ex- soldiers, or ex- actors, or ex- ballerinas. It's what they do in MMA that matters. Lesnar's size, agility, and physique gave him an advantage in his previous career just like it's giving him one now. Lots of pro wrestlers are legitimate good fighters, and there are skills that are transferable, but that's really as far as it goes. Now with Bobby Lashley making his name in MMA as well, I'm sure there'll be more crossover down the road.

I dislike Lesnar because he's a prick, and I like to see a certain amount of respect and sportsmanship in any sport. I hope somebody KOs him sooner or later. Perhaps Lashley would be a good candidate...

  5. I understand there could be some bad apples in the bunch, but the forum rules are clear about not doing anything illegal as a part of scambaiting, and that those who do it (such as cashbaiting) can be booted. I have no intention of doing anything illegal if I try a scambait or two. But I appreciate the heads up.

Also, there are plenty of sites devoted to educating people about scams. I saw some of them linked to the scambaiting website. Scam awareness and scambaiting don't have to be mutually exclusive. Scambaiting doesn't need to be out of revenge either, because taking up the time and energy of a scammer could prevent him from successfully scamming someone else.
