I hear ya! I really did use to listen to absolute dross. But I'd say since about february I just can't get into it and really don't even want to. Know obviously I'll never be so cool as you to listen to bands that don't exist yet. But I am getting better, I promise.

burnt discs are less reliable than pressed discs anyway, they stop working quite quickly. I would definately rather have a pressed disc

So this evening I went to see The Number Twelve Looks Like You. I can't say I like this band anymore, but since this was there first time in England and when I was like 16/17 I would have killed to see them play I figured I do my younger self a favour and check it out. What a fucking waste of time that was. I don't know if it's just because there's only 4 of them now or if they always sucked live but goddamn that was a wasted evening. I had to listen to Arcade Fire on the drive home just to get over the trauma to my ears. I don't know what my point is, I just thought well... fuck... don't go see bands you liked when you were young I guess?

I've always found the best way to discover new music is to read labum liner notes and band tour lists for instance if I had never read the Fall of Troys album notes I would never have dicovered Anatomy of a ghost, which in turn lead me to Portugal. The Man, which in turn lead me to Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground etc. It amazes me when I look back over my record collection how throughly interlinked just about every band is to the point where I can draw a connection between someone like Anathallo to someone like Norma Jean

I never understood the point in music magazines anyway. How the fuck can you read about something that can only be heard, there is absolutley no possible way to visually represent music to anyone without the person writing it interpretting the music for you, in which case, there's fuck all point in reading about it because it's their bias.
