  1. Update: They sound awesome. However, at louder volumes they cut out. I'm thinking my receiver isn't powerful enough? It's a Sony HCD-541.

Update 2: Fixed the cutting out issue. Completely rewired everything and it sounds amazing with my Sony woofer. Debating on doing some surround sound with my JBLs now. At the moment in my room, I have the Polk trio set up, and resting are a set of 70s Fisher Loud-Speakers, a set of JBL Stage Venue floor-speakers, a set of JBL G150 bookshelf speakers, a set of Pioneer floor-speakers, and a complete 2.1 iHome system with sub. Way too many speakers.

  2. 180 gram records do not have deeper grooves. They are made from the same stampers as lower weight records. The only sonic advantage of a 180 gram record would be if it is virgin vinyl, which it is supposed to be.

And techincally, black vinyl is colored vinyl. Vinyl is clear, graphite is added which makes it black.

If a colored record 'sounds like ass' it most likely not because it is on colored vinyl, it's because it is mastered or cut like ass.

When I was getting quotes to press the YMAEWK record, they told us we would have to buy two sets of stampers if we wanted 180G; one set cut for standard weight and one set cut with deeper grooves for the 180G.

  3. Is it really $20 to ship a single LP to Canada from the US?  That's the number I got from several people on discogs recently.  If so, how much for a 2xLP?

If it's really $20, USPS is $5-$10 more expensive than Canada Post to USA now.   oof.

    Yep, about that. It's terrible.

Also noted, I payed $19 to get a record shipped from Canada to California yesterday.

If anything captures your eye and you don't wanna go through eBay's system, let me know.

Might also be willing to trade for records.

Also pimping my dad's auction of a 1957 Supro Duel Tone guitar. It's an insanely cool guitar, perfect for blues/soul/indie. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Supro-Dual-Tone-Guitar-White-w-Black-Pickguard-and-Neck-Valco-Airline-/160996888951?pt=Guitar&hash=item257c299177

BONUS: Check out my tradelist, there has got to be some records I don't listen to anymore that I would be willing to let go to a new home. Link is in my signature.
