Got THPS5 for $14. With the recent patches it's playable. So for that cheap I said fuck it cause I doubt Skate 4 is happening.

Despite hearing it wasn't very good, I've always loved those games and would pick it up just to add to Lizzie Armanto's royalty check.

I'm surprised they aren't jumping for a chance to make Skate 4 for this generation of consoles.

I once worked on a beef jerky account that wanted to focus on action sports (primarily skate and BMX) to launch a new product. The athletes and endemic media were generally nice enough and willing to work with us. Despite their cordiality it was pretty embarrassing to explain that we were, in fact, doing photoshoots and ad work for meat snacks. The amount of money being spent dictated it was in everyone's best interest to treat us with some modicum of respect but it was pretty clear that they thought our involvement was, in many ways, a joke.

Long story short, I can tell you first hand that it isn't fun to be an industry joke, even when you have a lot of cash to toss around. I can't imagine what it is like without any money. This label must be tough to run.

The skate shop I work at might have sold that. Matador? That's pretty much how the entire skateboard industry is. Any brand that isn't a skate company is uncool by design. Or at least that's how it used to be. A lot has changed in the last ten years.

They made the vita my current favorite console to play on. If you enjoy the visual novel medium or have enjoyed games like Phoenix Wright I'd highly recommend them. Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havok and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair combined gave me about 70-75 hours of "playtime". The first one is more interactive novel than game but both have really amusing and engaging over the top characters with really charming design. The murder mysteries are actually pretty interesting too. It all just depends if you're alright with the experience of reading a story rather than playing an action or immediate reward type gaming experience. I'd also suggest playing with Japanese audio. There's a vocal supportive fanbase of the dub but in my opinion it alters the tone of many characters and the overall atmosphere in a negative way. In the original Japanese version the main villain is very cruelly indifferent but in the American dub he has what I consider a terrible over enunciated childlike voice that ruins the tone of the character for me. In general the English voices are much less suited for the characters and too childlike for me while the originals really push the subtleties of the characters, especially in the second game. And it really is just a very intricate story about these very well designed and written characters. In my perception the second games cast each embody various mental and physical illnesses and impairments and the core of the story is how they manage them and how it affects the way they interact with others. I'd definitely say try em.

I liked the anime of Danganronpa and really want to try the games. Monokuma's voice is annoying in the anime too though.

  4. Overwatch was so good for the few hours I got to play last night. My friend bought Battleborn, and although I love Gearbox to death, it sort of seems like a half-baked Borderlands. The character designs are good, writing is fun and funny but not as good as Borderlands, an the gameplay is pretty stale. I never feel like I'm in any danger when I'm playing. Killing enemies doesn't feel very satisfying, even when you're mowing down an army. All the drops seem worthless, I never find myself rushing to pick anything up. And even when you're moments from death, you don't even realize because the game doesn't give you much feedback about taking damage.

Especially after playing Overwatch, it was really underwhelming. I've never been a big team based-FPS fan so Battleborn only confirmed my lack of interest in the genre. Overwatch on the other hand, did the exact opposite. Battleborn's greatest strength, (and Overwatch's greatest weakness in my eyes) is that it offers couch co-op. Unlike the people in the game industry, I would way rather be able to play games with my friends together than have the highest possible frame rate. Call me old -fashioned.

  5. I dont think the world needs another Spiderman story that is wasted with explaining his origins/introducing the character.  If there is any character that can avoid a 2 hour introduction its Spiderman.

Very true!! And it's not necessarily that I want another origins story (I need at least another 15 or 20 years before I can watch a new Uncle Ben die) but there's so many great Spider-Man villains that I'd like to see some more one on one stuff (excited for the possibility of The Vulture) before the character is fighting aliens with The Avengers (similar to the pre-Avengers Iron Man movies). Batman v Superman probably just left a bad taste in my mouth starting off with a super powered alien, and then having Bats fight human villains. The economy of scale feels off or rushed. The villains feel less intimidating going in reverse order. I guess between Civil War and Homecoming it'll probably be enough, and I'm probably whining about nothing.

  6. Agreed, I watched it on Sunday and felt the same. I thought the movie itself was a little boring and predictable, I also did not like the CGI ghosts. I didn't go in expecting a horror film, but I don't think it worked as a gothic romance either.

The predictability was definitely the film's greatest flaw. I spent more time paying attention to the set than anything else in the movie. Which only got better after watching the special features. Haha

  7. Looks like Iron Man shows up in the next spidey movie: http://collider.com/spider-man-reboot-robert-downey-jr-iron-man/

I'd rather see a standalone Spider-Man movie to introduce the character to the universe before having him crammed into the MCU via Civil War (too late obviously) and Iron Man in a Spidey film. Obviously we'll have to wait and see what size role RDJ plays in "Homecoming" but as a huge Spider-Man fan, it sort of rubs me the wrong way that the character feels (from what I've seen so far anyway) shoehorned in as Iron Man's protege/ side kick.

I know Peter becomes Stark's protege in the comics, but jumping right to that part of Spider-Man's story feels rushed. I'd like a buffer zone to just let Spider-Man be Spider-Man before there's more team up movies. I guess that's one way to skip over doing his origin story again.

  8. It's alright but when I am drunk and it comes on, I will sing along until I am told to stop

Truly, this is an insane opinion.

Come Sail Away, on its own, is a fucking great song.

Its use in pivotal moments of two of my favorite televisions shows (pilot of Freaks & Geeks b/w Troy goodbye episode of Community) has made me cry each time I've watched each respective episode.

Yeah I'm crying right now just thinking about it, idgaf

You two are blowing my mind! I really thought it was universally panned! My boss changes the station every day when it comes on the radio. I got made fun of in the 3rd grade for singing along to it after the coolest kid in class did it first (ironically I guess?). Maybe it's just my city?

  9. There's a lot of really good answers in here. The GNR one is priceless it's so true.

I'd say even though it's sort of a cop out answer, Kurt Cobain and Joe Strummer dying young. I'm sure there would be more great music and thoughts on music and life in 2016 from both were they kicking around still.

    Other thoughts:

-All the different versions of Black Flag suing each other over who is really Black Flag. Who would have thought back in the 80's that one of the most revolutionary bands to ever unite (ie DIY ethics and creating scenes) would turn into a bunch of whining middle aged men fighting over who could be in the reunion tour doing irreparable harm to their legacy

    --Speaking of which:

     black-flag-what-the.jpg

-Dead Kennedys suing each other over money (This one probably deserves the long schpeel I wrote above more, but that one came to mind first and I'm lazy) doing irreparable harm to their legacy

-Those christian metalcore bands that all sound the same

    -the vinyl trend

-Flavor Flav getting a tv show and doing irreparable harm to Public Enemy's legacy

    -Whatever this is:

    yacht rock

-Agreed with the Maroon 5, Fred Durst, Bruno Mars, Brand New statements

    -Ted Nugent.
