  1. about as good a cadillac blindside collection as you can get. all you need is the bubblecore demo cassette i think.

but what is that liquid lungs retrospective cd? is it different than the original pressing (aside from the art of course)? and yes, vinyl treatment PLEASE. i think the cardinal sin stuff should be on vinyl too actually.

Yeah, that's true, I don't have the demo cassette. I don't have a cassette player, so I'm not gonna actively seek it out either.

The retrospective cd is a UK release from 2006 that has both "These Liquid Lungs" and "The Allegory Of Death & Fame" and one unreleased track ("Longwinded Shortcomings"). It's the original versions of the songs (as far as I know at least!). It also comes with liner notes for most of the songs and a short piece explaining the break-up of the band.

  2. Thanks Dan. And yeah, I agree. These guys released two amazing albums, and never got the recognition they deserved. These Liquid Lungs would definitely be in my top 10 records of all time!

    Allegory tracklist:

    1. Always A Comedian

    2. Empty Bottle Evening

    3. Premeditated Redrum

    4. Consumed By Television Sets

    5. Where Will I Sleep Tonight?

    6. Read Em And Weep

    Amp 176 Split tracklist:

    1. Amp 176 - Omniview

    2. Amp 176 - I Wish I

    3. CB - A Touch Of Nostalgia

    4. CB - My Heart Pisses Blood For You

(These are both earlier versions than the ones that ended up on Read The Book, Seen The Movie)

Rumors, Scandals And Burning Bridges tracklist:

    1. Solid Gold

    2. Paws

And sorry, but I don't have any ripping abilities with my turntable. :(

My small but complete Cadillac Blindside collection:

    - Read The Book, Seen The Movie 12"

    - Rumors, Scandals And Burning Bridges 7" (Took forever to find it!)

    - Split with Amp176 7" /300 (The 6/66 that's written on the cover is probably just some previous owner being funny....)

    - Read The Book, Seen The Movie (CD)

    - The Allegory Of Death And Fame EP (CD)

    - These Liquid Lungs (CD) (Someone press this on vinyl already!)

    - These Liquid Lungs: A Retrospective (CD) (The very generous Trenton Raygor gave this to me as a gift when I was invited to his house for a BBQ. That guy rules.

  4. I almost killed a kid (well, aged 15-16) yesterday. :(

I was on my way to work, and it was already dark outside. Suddenly a bike appears right in front of me. So I hit the brakes hard and turn into the opposing lane. Right as the car came to a stop, I was sure I had hit him with the side of my car. But apparently the bump I heard/felt was from going over the little edge that separates the lanes. But it was insanely close; I practically saw the kid all over my hood as it happened.

Seriously, had I (or him) reacted just half a second later, I'm pretty sure he would either be dead or severely crippled now (I was going pretty fast). And although it was all his fault (He had to yield, but for some reason beyond my imagination he didn't see me coming), I really don't know how I could've lived with myself if I had hit him....

I couldn't focus on anything at work yesterday, as the incident was on constant replay in my head. So yeah, that was my friday night!

  5. Just made my top 15 of the year list yesterday:

    1. Strung Out - Agents Of The Underground (Their best yet...?)

    2. Franz Nicolay - Major General

    3. The Menzingers - Hold On, Dodge

    4. The Lawrence Arms - Buttsweat And Tears

    5. Propagandhi - Supporting Caste

    6. NOFX - Coaster

    7. American Steel - Dear Friends And Gentle Hearts

    8. Strike Anywhere - Iron Front

    9. Pulley - Time-Insensitive Material (Hmm, or was this released in 2008...?)

    10. Mike Hale - Lives Like Mine

    11. Strung Out - Prototypes And Painkillers

    12. Weezer - Raditude (I know, I know. Everyone hates it. And lyrically it's baaad. But I can't help but liking the melodies...)

    13. NOFX - Cokie The Clown

    14. Teenage Bottlerocket - They Came From The Shadows

    15. Duncan Redmonds - Bubble & Squeak

So yeah, I'm deep into the "Fat sound"...

I still haven't heard the new A Wilhelm Scream EP or the Bosstones record. But once I do, I'm sure they will find its way onto this list.

  6. Bumpity bump.

I should add that I am aware that the yellow Kevin/Mike split is available through their webstore. But their only international shipping option is at $32, which is totally ridiculous. So if anyone would go hunting one down for me, I'll throw in a few extra bucks (in addition to the cost of the 7" + shipping) for the trouble.
