  1. Really curious about the Dirty Three release on the UK list. An expanded version of their first album maybe? Though last years Dirty Three RSD reissue had an MSRP of £40 and I'll be damned if Bella Union is going to squeeze me for $60 for a record.

I'll likely just try to order the Violent Femmes 7" and the reissue of Bowie's I Dig Everything when Bullmoose posts their leftover stock the following Monday.

  2. The only thing that was upsetting is that the store was selling them for $60 and had everything marked up really high. Last year was the same - close to $55 for the MGMT rsd release. (Sigh)

I walked into my local shop around 5pm after work yesterday. They didn't have much left, but I decided against picking up the little they did have when I saw a copy of that Brand New record still on the shelf... marked at $70.

  3. I've made a couple dozen orders containing vinyl from GoHastings and have only had one item arrive damaged. It was a copy of Gallon Drunk's Fire Music that was obviously shop worn. Packaging has never created a problem for me and most of my orders have arrived in proper record mailers. I'm never hesitant to order from them, though I no longer count on them for preorders.

I jumped in and ordered 14 records in 3 separate orders during this sale totalling about $190. They'll all be arriving Monday through Wednesday in six shipments. A couple records I was actually surprised to see ship (Jonsi & Alex's Riceboy Sleeps and Devendra Banharts' Cripple Crow). I feared they were listed by mistake and not actually in stock. I hope they arrive in vinyl format and not CD format, as I have heard of that happening and experienced it once myself with a copy of Grinderman 2.

  4. The releases I'm most interested in seem to be UK exclusive, and I'm in the US. Slowdive, Dirty Three, Siouxsie. I hope that there are some leftovers available online...

I'll have to see if I'm working that Saturday, but I'll be out the lookout for the Social Distortion, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Violent Femmes and White Stripes for myself. Decemberists for my fiancee. The Bonnie 7" is the only one that has me concerned and will be the reason I head down to 1-2-3-4 Go! in Oakland if I've got the day off (if they expect to have it).

  5. From the inbox:

Violent Femmes have announced details of their eagerly awaited new EP, HAPPY NEW YEAR. The four-track EP will be released April 18th, exclusively on 180 gram champagne clear vinyl for Record Store Day.

I was hoping that when and if the Femmes finally recorded new material that they would do so with the original lineup. The band really started losing their appeal to me when DeLorenzo left and Guy Hoffman took over. This EP was recorded with their new drummer Brian Viglione of Dresden Dolls. It may be interesting to hear what he has to offer the band and I will be picking this one up, but my expectations are not high. The new track certainly doesn't compare to their first few albums.
