  1. i would love too, but stuff like that really depends on where you are renting, unfortunately that was something i learned while searching for space to rent.
  2. right now we are in the "how can we prove our concept to work" stage. to be fair, I've been watching a lot of shark tank.
  3. having worked retail forever, I've mastered when to be the bad guy and when no to be. my buddy is more the numbers side of this. im the everything else. I'm good at a lot of things, i don't math well though. thats where he comes in. with that being said. if i can get the social aspect down without attracting freeloaders, i will be ok. i was that kid once...and now I'm the man that hates those kids......so I'm confident i know how to regulate this. but we aren't even there yet. we are at the beginning. as long as we can prove to the banks we can turn a profit and show (on paper) that our model works.....we can work out the kinks as we go.
  4. I have fake legs and need new ones. Insurance has denied me 3 times in the last year and a half. Wanna get me new legs? Sorry your shit was stolen, but honestly...fuck you
  5. I totally agree. We have been toying with a few ideas. Nothing concrete yet. But we have some tricks up our sleeves.Think the social aspects of a skate shop and or barber shop mixed with a record store. And that one episode of dharma and greg where she opened a business that sold nothing.
  6. trailerspace is a fucking joke. the owners are assholes. A band i managed for a while decided to play a show there and the owners were walking around trying to fuck every girl there with the "i own this place" line. they were rude to me when i was asking questions and were outright making fun of people at the show. oh and breakaway records is really cool. nice people. http://www.breakawayrecs.com
  7. in time. still working out average monthly cost of bills to keep the fucker open. also, there will be SO many pie charts for our loan presentation.
  8. bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. maybe if i wanted a store full of overpriced good charlotte reissues, and terrible morality. full disclosure: i bought one of those overpriced good charlotte reissues, and i still don't know why.
  9. which usually means i will be buried before i even start. ahaha. i also really like making up my own analogies
  10. end of an ear is my jam. I've asked the owner for some advice. Waterloo doesn't worry me, they are cool, but they are the walmart of record stores to me. end of an ear is actually the first record store i went to where i didn't feel judged by EVERYONE. they actually pick on me for what they call "the weirdest taste in music" they have ever seen. one time i bought a sleep record, the garden state soundtrack and a miles davis LP. we all had a good laugh.
  11. there is a huge market that is completely untapped in austin. most of the record stores specialize in either like, old rare LPs and experimental shit. the others are just top for BS that is so overpriced it will make your head spin. i really want to cater to that person that just LOVES music and really want to go above and beyond to find new music. no matter how it plays out, any record store you go to here, you are judged in one way or another for your musical taste. its upsetting to me. i want that judgment free zone. I want to be that store that carries bong ripper for that doom metal lover, but also the newest top 40 pop stuff.....sorry, I'm excited
  12. haha i wish. opening one in austin will be tough but also.....easy? we plan on really focusing on obviously records/cds/tapes etc, but also a place for smaller acoustic acts to play. My buddy, who is an audio engineer will fix gear that we buy/sell. owning a business is in my blood. we had a high end mens clothing store in my family for 50+ years. i can't wait to go broke keeping my dream alive
  13. in early 2016. Already have the ball rolling with my partner. call me an idiot. give me ideas/advice. whatever, i need some motivation. Edit: the (almost) wife is supporting me. so she rules.
  14. I have no clue if anyone has even received this yet, but if you are a subscriber and don't want the into it over it flexi, i would be more than happy to buy it from you. or trade you anything in this thread http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/111125-weddings-bills-prices-added-fob-twy-no-sleep-sub-more/
  15. trust rev hq. cause if its an accident, they will refund you....dont trust mahogany
  16. Do they still put the rsd releases in that tiny ass cart shelf thing and force people to cluster around it?
