  1. As Green Day prepares to retake the world with their upcoming trilogy of albums, they've also been treating fans to choice cuts of their new material. Today the band released "Kill the DJ", which is described by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong as an attempt to "make dance music without turning into a dance band." And don't forget to preorder Green Day's upcoming !UNO! from our store. Source: Rolling Stone Hey, Listen! Green Day's latest "Kill the DJ"
  2. someone noticed it on a list - but thus far nothing. I guess we'll know eventually.
  3. I was never contacted. I did a password reset, although, I haven't been able to let the person know about the change. Perhaps I'll just email them directly.
  4. Sorry this is happening, still check with IPBoards - they're not super fast on this stuff.
  5. So, here is what I would recommend, let's start a thread in one of the forums and getting member feedback. if the Captcha is indeed preventing/turning people off to the trading system then we'll look into changing the authorization system for the better. Is this fair?

  7. Just picked up Sleeping Dogs - really can't stress how excellent it is.
  8. The Town was incredible. Argo looks equally amazing. Someone already mentioned Gone Baby Gone. Motherfucker is a top-tier director. Honestly, this would be a huge win for DC. Especially since Affleck has Kevin Smith in his back pocket, and that cat KNOWS DC comics. That said... Agreed.
  9. Indie pop group the xx are weeks away from releasing their new album, Coexist. In preparation, the band has released a new tracked called "Chained" to their YouTube channel. The trippy visuals and somber beats have been embedded for you below. Enjoy. The xx gon' give it to ya... with this new song.

  11. Hey man, email me at [email protected] and we'll sort this out. I don't want to post your temporary password here, obviously.
  12. Ever desperate to remind you of his quirky personality, Beck has announced that his new album will be released as 108 pages worth of sheet music. Due in December from publisher McSweeney's, Beck Hanson's The Song Reader will consist of 20 individual booklets outlining songs that might have been finished by Beck if he wasn't so darn wacky. "The Song Reader is an experiment in what an album can be at the end of 2012," Beck's website read today. "An alternative that enlists the listener in the tone of every track, and that's as visually absorbing as a dozen gatefold LPs put together." Beck also confirmed that he has no plans to complete the songs himself, leaving that process to the listener. McSweeney's will in turn post user and musician submitted versions of tracks like "Do We? We Do" on their website. God only knows what a tour might look like. Source: Rolling Stone Beck announces new album - some assembly required
  13. Can The Olympics count? I can't seem to get away from this horseshit.
  14. He did! I just ran the story: http://www.vinylcollective.com/?p=14929
  15. Seems Ex-Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri had one hell of a 'Get Out of Jail Free' card up his sleeve. Despite being charged with seven felony counts - including domestic violence and cocaine possession with a loaded firearm - after a four-hour standoff with S.W.A.T. last July, he will serve no jail time thanks to a new deal struck with the prosecution. TMZ has learned that under the new agreement, Oliveri will plead to one count of cocaine possession resulting in 52 weeks of anger management counseling and 200 hours of community service. He had previously faced a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. And it gets better: The Judge has also indicated that if he stays clean, the entire incident will be expunged from his record. When asked if he regrets his actions, Oliveri pumped his fists in the air and yelled, "YOLO, motherfuckers!" Source: Pitchfork via TMZ If you need a reminder of Nick's days with Queens, pick up their self-titled debut album from our store today. Nick Oliveri will miraculously avoid jail time
  16. Drama continues to escalate at the Russian trial for members of feminist punk-rock group, Pussy Riot. The most recent episode involves the court's repeated refusal to allow witness testimony on behalf of the defense. Three girls, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Yekaterina Samutsevich and Maria Alyokhina were arrested in March for staging a politically-charged impromptu at Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral. They've been jailed since the arrest and are facing up to seven years in prison on the charges of hooliganism. Lawyer's for the band have accused the trial of being fast-tracked as a means to demonstrate the Kremlin's stance against political protest. Another denounced the proceedings as one of "the most shameful in modern Russian history, adding the justice system under Joseph Stalin was more fair. The story has been garnering attention aboard as well, especially from the music industry. Sting took to his website to declared the arrests as "appalling", while Peter Gabriel and members of Red Hot Chili Pepper's wrote letters of support for the three women. Most notably, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovtiz held a benefit for Pussy Riot in New York City - his first public appearance since the death of his band mate, Adam Yauch. As to what the Kremlin thinks, on Thursday Russian President Vladimir Putin - a popular target of the feminist rock group - agreed with the arrests, although stressed that the women shouldn't be punished too severely. For the final word on the matter, I reached out to Vinyl Collective's legal correspondent, Bane, who told me that the girl's punishments "must be more severe." He also added that when I finish this article, I have his permission to die. Source: Rolling Stone & NME The trial of Pussy Riot continues
  17. Advocates of Marijuana use are having a difficult time defending the actions of their all-star poster boy, Snoop Dogg. Earlier this week, the artist announced his transition into reggae music under the new moniker Snoop Lion, raising concerns he might have finally smoked himself stupid. Last night, Lion ventured into overly-nice Canada to debut his new music persona. Toronto's The Houxton played host to the spectacle as the white-clad former rapper took to the stage - an hour-and-a-half late, mind you - and dropped choice cuts from his upcoming reggae record, as well as new reggea-fied takes on classics like "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Gin & Juice". The show was greeted with polite Canadian applause and the occasional, "What's that aboot, eh?" Snoop Lion's new record isn't expected until later this year, until then, why not sample some of his new Caribbean sound below. And remember kids, stay off drugs - if only to avoid radical shifts in personality. Source: NME Snoop Lion makes his debut... in Canada?
