  1. I've never drank or smoked anything and people always ask me if I'm straight edge.  I'm not, I just don't really want to get into drinking or smoking.  I turn 21 in a couple weeks and I'm going to drink a little then, but not to get drunk.  Addictions run really strong in my family, and I know I have an addictive personality.  So it scares the shit out of me that I'll become an alcoholic or dependent on weed which is why I've never done either.

Same here. I'm honestly not that eager to try alcohol of any sort, and my friends who smoke weed always either do stupid stuff or just sit around and do nothing, so weed isn't all that attractive to me either (that, and it smells like rubber cement. I don't care what anyone says, weed smells like rubber cement to me).

I do smoke hookah once or twice a month, though, because I enjoy the social aspect of it and I like learning smoke tricks. That's about it.

  2. Mine was They Might Be Giants at the Variety Playhouse in ATL, back in 2007. They were on tour for The Else, and I unknowingly bought an autographed copy after the show (somehow, I was the first person at the merch table, and I didn't notice the CD was already opened until I got in the car).

It was a great show. Didn't see another band live until I saw of Montreal in 2010.

  3. Went to the record store a few hours ago, walked out with two great finds.

Kishi Bashi - 151a (white vinyl)

Games - That We Can Play (Ford + Lopatin before they changed names, definitely recommended if you dig Oneohtrix Point Never and the stuff he puts out on his Software label.)

  4. Sort of a wonky list. A lot of good albums got shafted, with "hipster garbage" taking the lead (I'm guessing it's mostly for NME's target market). Honestly surprised to see Grimes ranked so high and Purity Ring ranked so low. Visions was good, but it wasn't that good. Also kind of surprised that Twin Shadow didn't make the cut.

I will say that I'm glad to see Tame Impala at #1. That album is incredible.
