I was checking in on my friend Andrew who helps with Runner-Up Records (shook ones/eoay split, dave house, higher giant)... they've announced pre-orders for a split with two happy 90's-esque indie/emo bands from Philadelphia. I'm in one of them. (not going to lie) By Surprise (braid/archers of loafish?) is on the A side and Hightide Hotel (ex-street smart cyclist) is on the B side. the band is hell-bent on being ten times more awesome, creative and successful with this project. I'm just waiting for pitchfork to get behind it. Anywho... I'm looking forward to the end result, and might end up splurging to acquire the LP box set. Worth every penny.

I know quite a few people in the Rentals "camp" so to speak... they're definitely going all out for this. The plan is to take all three EPs and shop it around to some heavy hitter llabels as full album ... look for a 2010 release on that. In the meantime, check in every day or week for some amazing stuff. Joe Santiago of the Pixies is in this week's video, for the lead song off of the first of 3 EPs. In the end, this will be worth it. They want to re-establish themselves as a really focused/artistic indie band... and it's working. Rentals : epic win Weezer : epic fail

How many people here have pre-ordered the new Teenage Cool Kids album? I'm still patiently awaiting mine.. Protagonist e-mailed me and said things are still going through the works. Apparently they're being sued by the Cool Kids for a possible name infringement. DISCUSS!

I'm looking for the Regrets LP that was released after the breakup of Vitreous Humor on Crank! If anyone has an extra Vitreous Humor/Boys Life split, I'd be a happy camper as well..

Just ordered it yesterday. Head on over to the Lobster Records webstore... turns out they have some copies left on vinyl... Of course though.. Captain Love is the band's most ambitious and impressive album to date.
