Over the course of six self-recorded and mostly self-released LPs, Alex G has built a body of work unassuming in its presentation but astounding in its depth. Beach Music, his seventh full-length and his debut with Domino, was written and recorded in Giannascoli’s apartment between the Fall of 2014 and the Spring of 2015, during breaks from touring with the likes of Elvis Depressedly, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and Gardens & Villa. While its predecessors often came in uninterrupted bursts—from his head to the internet in a matter of hours and days—Beach Music was shaped in part by Giannascoli adapting to life as a touring musician. Songs were written within months of one another rather than all at once, with influences ranging from noise music to piano-based laments to Southern rock to the rhythmic focus of techno—whatever he happened to be most interested in at the time. The result is Giannascoli’s most cohesive and beautiful work to date; a stand-out addition to a catalog whose rewards continue to evolve and multiply with every listen.

Yeah I was pretty chill about it for the first 3 or 4 months because it is difficult. I get it. Warren is one person and with Brian it's still a tonne of work. But now I'm waiting on one record I ordered December 2014 and another (+tapes) I ordered in January. And now in a week Paypal is going to take SOME of the money back which sucks because I don't want money I want records and tapes, that's why I am on this message board and why I have more LPs than dollars. And they seem to find enough time to put out new releases with my money, yet no response ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't even know. It's been a while for sure. 

 

Anyway I'm very excited to get my Katie Dey tape which should hopefully actually arrive since I wasn't the one who placed the order. Really eager to hear what she does next.

It's crazy reading through this thread and hearing all the stories of extreme delayed orders/no email responses back from warren

I've never had problems getting responses each time iv tried to contact him. Yea the orders normally take a while to ship out (months after the expected date posted in the store) but they have always came through, eventually

On that note I got an email stating dsu will be shipping "shortly after" my tapes were sent. I guess there was issues with the lp jackets getting damaged or something during shipment and they needed to be replaced.

So yes hopefully we get em soon!

It's super weird because Warren has totally been good with this stuff in the past. Like it's always been slow but at least he used to pop in here every now and then and update us. It's pretty hard seeing him continue to post new releases while I'm waiting on super old stuff. 

Just escalated my dispute to a claim. Still no response from Warren. Sad.

Nope. Of the 4 orders I placed since December the only one that has arrived is New Alhambra.

 

I've sent emails and received nothing in return except mass emails re: Swung and DSU. 

 

Sucks how much back catalogue stuff I want from them because I won't be ordering again. 

 

My roommate ordered the Katie Dey tape and didn't get an email just got the email.

Anyone receive.. anything... in the past couple weeks? I filed a Paypal claim on my Heaven/Angeltown I+II order on the 7th (too late to file one for Swung From The Branches) and haven't heard anything from Warren. Nor have I received anything from the other couple orders I placed with OT. Bummer. 

Sonic Pieces always takes a liiiittle longer than I expect them to. Nothing to worry about. 

I was in no way complaining about your prices. Just a general comment on my lack of income and Canada's TERRIBLE dollar. I hope it didn't come off that way.

It's getting so bad. And it's like I don't even save money buying less vinyl since what I do buy costs 1.5-2x as much as it used to.

The songs are reaaaaally good. Chest and Shirt had to grow on me but this is pretty immediately great. Very excited for LP2.

Got my mystery lathe yesterday and what I'm assuming is a shipping notice for the other things I ordered. I had a hell of a time getting it on my turntable which has a slightly larger than average spindle width (can't play flexis either). Good stuff though.

Love the callback to At War With Walls And Mazes in Now I Want. Definitely my favourite album since the aforementioned. Vinyl is super heavy as well.
