southern
So I recently purchased a Project Carbon with the Ortofon 2M Red needle already attached and set to roll. My question/concern is this: while I typically lift the tonearm off the record while it is still spinning, I had a brain fart today and turned the table off while the needle was still making contact with the record (in the locked groove at the end of the side) - Did I damage the needle by doing this? For some reason, I seem to think it's better to l - time to lift the tonearm, and I'm nervous that stopping the record with the needle still in contact with the vinyl could potentially damage the needle, itself (not too worried a/b) the vinyl since it was stopped in the "dead zone". Just curious to hear any thoughts or comments that y'all might have - time to buy a new needle or keep using the Ortofon? (It'd be a shame since the needle's only been used for 1 - 2 weeks, so far, but I'm paranoid a/b the needle damaging my vinyl.....yeah, I'm over-protective) Thanks! jase
To be honest i'm confused about your use of a/b. That to denote the different channels for the speakers on your amp. Or comparing two products side by side. As for the needle, it'll be fine and switching of the table with the needle still on the record won't damage it at all
southern
Thanks for your feedback, Jase - also, "a/b" is the lazy way of writing "about" (doesn't have anything to do with Side A or Side . Sorry to be confusing.
shacknasty
how much time does that save when you have to explain it every time?
