bobby
I've recently been given an old Sony turntable (in thread title) but it doesn't have a power supply, it just has a very small rectangular connector as i believe it used to be powered by the amp it once came with, any idea if i can buy a power cable/adapter at all? I can post a pic if that'll help. cheers!

circuit bored records
Most likely you will not be able to find that cable anywhere, as it was probably a proprietary connection for a sony amp that went with it. Pictures or a model number would be helpful though.

It is a propriety cable, a quick google images search shows up what it is. you could probably make up an adaptor for it as the service manual looks to be about and you could work out from there what voltage you need but to be honest why bother it's only just a step up from a crosley so you'd be better spending the money in a thrift store on a better turntable.
