I don't understand how you can not at least find pop punk bearable? I mean, a lot of that doom stuff is just noise to me.

celebdeath
i like my music to be challenging. pop punk, to my ears, is bland, boring music-by-numbers. i can understand why people dont dig boris though, but their whole sound runs the gamut from crushing doom to absolute heavenly, lush bliss. and every genre in between. listen to the album Rainbow, then listen to Flood, then Pink and Akuma No Uta. you'll defo see what we mean. LOL! that's Michio Kurihara - he's like a psych guitar legend in Japan. He's not normally a member of Boris, but joined them on this album. I think its a love-it-or-hate-it thing with his guitar work. but you see what i mean when i say they run the gamut. you've listened to 2 songs - Boris' back catalogue stretches to umpteen albums, collabs and splits. they are based in the doom-rock thing, but they defo expand on that. cant say i think the same thing about long careers pop=punkers like blink 182, green day etc

And big deal, they can change their styles. and thats where the difference is i guess. i've long since forgone 'fun' music coz very quickly, it becomes boring. i've moved onto more challenging stuff. boris certainly isnt my only reference point. i dont think that progression, building talent and advancement is a bad thing. you can only do so much with 3 chords and 2 minutes. oh, and believe me, there was a time for me when that was awesome, but that time has passed.
