ajxd
I noticed my motor became hot to the touch last night after listening to the player for about 2hr. Can anyone turn their motor on for about 2hr and let me know how hot it becomes? Thanks!

ajxd
STILL BEST $1K TABLE. Just motor got a little hot to the touch. Maybe it always gets hot? Maybe my new townhouse electricity sucks?
Tardcore
I blame the cabinet.
ajxd
Damn that cabinet! No heat emitted from cabinet remember the RA-1570 was in there blasting its little heater). It's got venting.
allenh
I hate to say it but a turntable motor shouldn't run hot even after 2 hours constant use, it's not exactly doing a lot of work once it's spun up the platter from rest. And whilst turntables don't tend to be housed inside cabinets now it shouldn't really be a problem, it was the norm back in the 70's and 80's The Marantz from memory has it's motor housed inside a metal cylinder so the motor itself doesn't get any cooling air across it anyway so being inside or outside doesn't matter. A quick email or phone call to Marantz tech support is probably the best thing to do.
